Convince me to buy this

#1 Posted by RTSlord (1201 posts) -

First of all, Merry Christmas to you guys. Secondly, i've been contemplating buying this game for a while but i currently have no MS points and have been too lazy/unmotivated to get them (which has contributed to me being all "ehhh" about buying this game).  It always looked good and like a lot of fun, and the demo really got me wanting to buy it.

So what i want you guys to do, is convince me of how good of a purchase this (and the DLC) is for the price and just overall. help me get this game!

It's not worth it, there's better stuff on Steam this week that'll give you more bang for your buck.

It's a game most people have played at this point, and is being considered for downloadable game of the year in many outlets. With that said, it's arguably game you need to play. Costume Quest is light hearted, funny, and a generally different experience than most games.

If the art style didn't convince you then don't worry too much about it.  I like the game quite a bit but the combat is way too easy and the exportation never felt great.  Best part of the game (outside of the art) is the names of the shops in the mall: "Why Not Flip Flops?".

I've said it before and I'll say it again: don't buy a game you need to be "convinced" to buy, you will usually regret it. That being said, if you appreciate humor at the cost of gameplay, you'll probably enjoy this game.

Ive never played a tim schafer game before, and all i know about the guy is he's evidently funny, so his name means pretty much nothing to me

You still got Candy and Statue of Liberty though...

Unless you are a damn ruski that hates sweet things?

@RTSlord: This game is made by the maker of Psychonauts.

@RTSlord: Watch the Quick Look. If that looks like the kind of thing that appeals to you, the QL should be all it takes to convince you. It's mostly charm, the gameplay's craaaazy simple, but the game has amazingly witty writing and very cute visuals. If that doesn't sound up your alley, I'd just skip it.

The art style is really charming and the humor is really spot on and imaginative. Also, if you're like me, you'll be happy to hear that an Arrested Development reference is present. It was awesome.

If you like simple RPGs youll enjoy it. Why should we have to convince you to buy it?

In this case you should forget Costume Quest and buy Grim Fandango and Psychonauts instead.
