The Agency is back and so is everything else. 2

Here we go again!Welcome back to the streets of Pacific City. Alot has changed since you've been gone, but you still get that familiar feeling. 10 years have gone by and you are once again in the shoes of an Agent. You have been cloned by the Agency in order to fight the new threats that have risen. The Cell is a terrorist group that is slowly taking over Pacific City to battle the Agency, while the Freaks are leftovers from  Dr. Balthazar Czernenko's experiments from the first game. And...

Welcome back Agent. Crackdown 2 follows in the footsteps of it's predecessor so well, that it's sometimes difficult to remember that you're playing a new game. That's not to say that Crackdown 2 isn't a good game, but if ever a game personified the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," statement, Crackdown 2 is it. With the crux of open world superpower games released since the original (see: Infamous, Prototype), Crackdown 2 had an opportunity to be a game changer. Alas, that ball, unlike the...

    Crackdown 2 Review 1

By nature, sequels give a creator a chance to take a hard look at their first effort and make changes accordingly, fixing the flaws and building on the strengths of the original. Great sequels deliver fresh, new content and fix past issues while preserving, if not improving, the core strengths of the first game. Crackdown 2 is not a great sequel. In Crackdown 2 you play as a superhuman Agent, working for The Agency. Set ten years after the first game, Pacific City is overrun by day by a te...

A Solo Player Review of Crackdown 2 1

I recently rented Crackdown 2 because I had heard good things about the first game. Never having played it before I went into the sequel not knowing everything to expect. Except a pure action sandbox style game.  After my time with Crackdown 2 I'm walking away so glad I only rented it.  The game is pretty straight forward. You're a nameless Agent whose job it is to clean up the streets of mutant Freaks and the criminal organization simply called Cell. That's everything to the game.  You have a t...

    Crackdown 2 Review 0

My friend paid $128.38 to play the standard edition of Halo 3 back in 2007. Remember the Halo 3 beta? Remember how you received access to this beta? You had to buy Crackdown for a full retail price of $59.99. You know what my friend did with his copy of Crackdown? He threw it out. He damned it to the abyss of coffee grinds and banana peels and all the stereotypical participants in a standard bag of trash. Obviously the point in adding the Halo 3 beta to Crackdown was to promote sale...

I'm one of the people who love getting all the stars, coins, and in this case, Agility Orbs. Crackdown 2 is essentially a "if it ain't broke" poster child. Those who liked the original game will find similarities to almost a fault. The gameplay is the same as the last game with the additions of the Wingsuit, and a few other weapons.     In terms of the plot, well, there isn't much of a plot. The Freak virus is a really cool story to follow, but it isn't built on at all. Unfortunately, the m...

Why is there less content in the sequel then the original? 2

I'm really disappointed in this game. WTF Ruffian games? Why does it feel like I'm playing a DLC add-on pack instead of a full blown sequel, huh? This whole game feels more like something they should have been released in the same vein as The Ballad of Gay Tony or The Lost and the Damned. It's the same city (though more   dilapidated ) and adds very, very little to the players abilities.   The story revolves around the city being taken over by 1 gang called Cell during the day and infected peopl...

    This game is shit 1

There's nothing redeeming in this at all, except as an example of how much money-grubbing devs will reuse assets to make a dime. The zombie aspect was half-baked and adds nothing to the game but tedium, to say nothing of the absurd missions. This game is an absolute waste of your time...

There are times when more from the original experience is exactly what we want, although, there are times when a repeat performance is one time too many. Underestimated games that surprise and captivate create opportunities to repeat the quality, even if there is no longer a shock effect. The expectations that grow from former success create a two-sided sword…hype. Hype is a funny thing. Once you have it either you live up to it or you fall short. Sometimes even with a good effort falling shor...

    it’s still a cracker of a game 0

Brought to you by Ruffian Games, Crackdown 2 is the mind blowingly addictive sequel to Real-Time World’s Crackdown. Set in the same city as the first game, Crackdown 2 sees you once again take up the mantle of one of the ever watching agents of Pacific City. Players begin as a standard Agent with the lowest possible stats. As players traverse the city they can find various collectable orbs to help increase said stats (or skills). The skills included are the same as those in the first game, ag...

Expansion Pack for a Sequel Price 0

First off, the Crackdown formula from the original game translates well into this title with little nuances of change.  The targeting system that spun me into mini-fits of rage in the last title has not changed a bit.  Looking for orbs has gotten a bit old, but for the achievement faithful the search can still provide a torturous addiction that bears the fruit of a 30G or 40G reward accentuated by the Pavlovian unlock sound.  So plug all these elements into a new character, storyline, and new ci...

Still Fun, But Bad Game. 0

The first crackdown game was a big sucess. Its fun and adaptable game play kept people coming back for more, and it maybe the only game ever to make me happy while hunting for items ie, orbs.  Once again in crackdown 2 orb hunting will be the majourity of your experience, with agility orbs that annoyinly run away from you, orbs for driving skill that you get from running people over, winning races and doing stunts. Over all there are around 1000 different things for you to collect within this ga...

Yep, this is Crackdown Too... 0

Overview Immediately upon loading into this game you're tossed back into the world you remember from the first Crackdown, Pacific City.  The city has taken a beating since the last time you were here though, because the Freaks from the Shai Gen research facility of the first Crackdown have gotten completely out of control and have been destroying the city.  You start off as a freshly cloned Agent and have to jump through some training course objectives in order to be let out and "Clean up the Ci...

Basically the Same As the Original...but a bit worse 0

Crackdown has been one of my favorite games this generation. I was so up for it I had it pre-purchased before the Halo 3 beta was announced. It was pure, stupid fun and the idea of an open world game with superhuman powers seemed like the ultimate no-brainer. It seemed to be a brief blast of fun as MS seemed to have no desire to sequelize it and Realtime Worlds went on to make the rather-poor APB. Then, it turned out that Ruffian Games was producing a sequel to my fave game this gen. Say...

Same City. New Foes. Welcome Back, Agent! 0

Notoriously know for “That game with the Halo 3 Beta”, Crackdown turned out to be a pretty solid game. It made collecting things fun, and featured co-op through the entire game while allowing you to be a bad-ass agent for . The story was second, and the gameplay came first giving you one goal: Take out all the enemy gangs. The second one is more of the same, but that is a good thing.     4 Player Co-op is awesome. Not pictured is the fourth player getting killed by the other three.  Crackd...

Hey, a new Crackdown game! Or not. 0

Crackdown 1 was a fun game. I borrowed it from a friend and played it after my girlfriend bought my 360 for Mass Effect. I liked that the game got me used to playing the 360 and its controls so that I could be good for when ME and GTAIV came out. I liked the collectiness of the game, even if I never did completely get all the orbs (who did?). So, when I heard about Crackdown 2, I associated it with fond memories of jumping, climbing and general carnage. I looked forward to it and thought it wou...

    Crackdown 2 Review 1

Right to the point, I think this game just as good as the first one. I consider the first game to be a 5/5 and I consider this game a 5/5. If you played the first game and loved it, then you'll love the sequel. If you haven't played the first game, then you should definitely give Crackdown 2 a shot. In my opinion, it's bad policy to judge a game based on value. I ignore cost in my reviews and wish that most media would, too. The reason I play games is to have fun and Crackdown 2 is fun. Could it...

    Crackdown 1.2 0

A video game sequel should improve on the original product by learning from the problems that were identified with the first game. I’m not quite sure what happened with the creation of Ruffian, a company that is filled with employees who previously worked at Realtime Worlds (who developed the first Crackdown game three years ago). Maybe the creative minds that created Pacific City and everything inside it didn’t cross over to Ruffian for the development of Crackdown 2. I say this because;...

    Fun albeit unambitious 0

I was excited to hear of a sequel to Crackdown, the game bundled with the Halo 3 beta. But I wasn't too excited the sceen shots in the Gameinformer magazine showing off a game using the same engine that the original Crackdown used that wasnt very impressive back when it debuted back in 2007. Fears krept in my mind that this sequel was a rush job that offered little new. Then I played the game and found out I was right. Crackdown 2 uses the same graphics engine, the same city and the same exact g...

A Flawed Return To Pacific City 1

First, let me begin by saying I'm a huge fan of the first Crackdown.  Jumping from rooftop to rooftop was a thrill, hunting down orbs was addictive, and the explosive combat was an adrenaline rush.  But Crackdown 2 doesn't capture the same emotions.  The return to Pacific City hopes to give the player new thrills with new kinds of Orbs, mission objectives, weapons, and enemies, but it just falls flat in comparison to the first.  It's still fun, but held back by a series of control and gameplay f...

    Alright, Agent... 0

The fact is, I barely played this game.I only have done about an hour and a half of "gameplay."I played the demo given a week prior to the game's release, and got really excited because it was just like Crackdown. The voice-over work was the same, the feeling was the same, and the whole damn orb collection was the fucking same.I pre-ordered the game as soon as I played the demo, received the code for the 4 different colored suits you could wear(the only reason I pre-ordered it). And then I waite...

    A Disappointing re-hash of a familiar formula 0

Back in early 2007, the original Crackdown was a game that would've quietly slipped under the radar if it were not for the fact that it was the carrier for the much anticipated Halo 3 Beta. Little attention was focused towards Crackdown as most people were simply anxious to get their hands on the Halo 3 beta, but as it turns out, Crackdown turned out to be superbly proficient in providing one of the best open-world experiences to have ever graced console gaming. It was an open-world adventure wi...
