Neo Cortex.
Crash Bandicoot was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin, in an attempt to create a mascot for Sony to rival Sonic & Mario. Initially choosing to create a character called Willy the Wombat, early concept art shows a character similar to crash, with a tail & large tuft of hair on his head. Through the design process various names for the wombat hero were used including Wez, Wuzzles and Wizzy, however the name Crash was finally decided upon due to the character's tendencies to smash crates in the game. It was decided that "Crash the Wombat" didn't scan well, and it was decided to change the species to a bandicoot, naming the character "Crash Bandicoot"
Crash Bandicoot
When we first meet our protagonist in he is being experimented on by Dr. Neo Cortex. Once an ordinary bandicoot, Dr. Neo Cortex used the "Evolvo-ray" on him to turn him into an intelligent soldier to form part of his army, known as the "Cortex Commandos" to take over the world. The experiment doesn't go to plan and Cortex deems Crash unworthy of his expectations, and throws crash into the ocean. Crash washes up on the first Wumpa Island, where he begins his quest for revenge against Cortex, and to find his girlfriend bandicoot Tawna.
After travelling across all 3 Wumpa islands and defeating many of Cortex's cohorts Crash finds himself back at Cortex's lair. After defeating Cortex, he steals Cortex's airship where he is reunited with Tawna.
After Collecting the crystals, Cortex reveals his plan to use them to power the "Cortex Vortex" to take over the world. Crash once again fights and defeats Cortex and saves the world. Crash then collects 25 Gems which N. Brio uses to destroy the Cortex Vortex forever.
Crash 3: Warped
After the remains of Cortex's space station crash into earth and release the spirit of the evil Uka Uka, Aku Aku recruits crash to use travel through time to collect crystals across different time periods in order to prevent Nefarious Trophy, Uka Uka and Cortex from using them to power N. Trophy's Time Twisting Machine, and using it to take over the world. After collecting the crystals Crash fights and defeats N. Trophy causing the Time Twisting Machine to implode.
Crash Team Racing
While yo-yoing peacefully in his home, Crash, along with many of his friends and enemies, is transported to a stadium. Greeted by an alien calling himself Nitros Oxide . He informs Crash and his colleagues that he is the fastest driver in the galaxy, and that the fastest driver in the world must challenge him to a race. If he wins, he will destroy the earth, if they win, he will leave the earth alone. To decide who will challenge Oxide, a series of races are held. Crash wins these, defeats Oxide and the world is safe once again.
Sony's answer to Mario, Crash Bandicoot is the lovable star of Sony's Crash Bandicoot series. Crash relies on his stunning agility and deadly spin moves to navigate numerous obstacle courses, planets, and time zones in search of power crystals.
Overview
In the games Crash is described as a genetically engineered bandicoot from the Wumpa Islands, which are 3 islands southwest of Australia. Throughout his games he is often aided by friends Aku Aku, Coco Bandicoot and Crunch Bandicoot.
History
The PlayStation hit the ground running and quickly took the gaming world by storm, there was however one thing it lacked – a mascot. Nintendo and Sega had theirs; in fact they had quite literally built empires around Mario and Sonic respectively. Thankfully Naughty Dog came along shortly after and with the help of Charles Zembillas and Joe Pearson they created a lovable character by the name of Crash Bandicoot – a crazy marsupial out to save his girlfriend Tawna from the clutches of the evil Doctor

Nature
Crash is a silent protagonist, the games stories are told through the dialogues that other characters have, this is to give the player a larger connection to Crash. In later games Crash's quietness became much about the likable nature of his character. Crash is never portrayed as particularly intelligent at face value yet he always achieves great things. This was really to make Crash likable and cute to appeal to a wide range of fans. In later games Crash became less of a cute gentle character and more of an insane Slapstick character. In Crash: Tag Team racing we see this change with Crash uttering nonsensical gibberish instead of being a mute. Crash obtained a more slapstick vibe in later games for example in Crash: Tag Team Racing there were certain clips called 'Die-O-Ramas' where Crash would die in a strange and often humorous way.Storyline

She tells him that her laptop battery is broken, and sends him to get a new one. Before he can complete his sisters request he is abducted by Cortex, who proceeds to tell him that he is a changed man, and requires the Bandicoot's assistance. He instructs Crash to collect 25 crystals which Dr. Nitrus Brio is attempting to collect to use as part of a mind control device on board his space station to take over the world. Coco & N.
