Overview

Crash of the Titans is an action-oriented platforming game released across multiple platforms in late 2007 by Sierra Entertainment. Despite bearing the Crash Bandicoot name, the game marks something of a new start for the series. This is evident in the game's drastic aesthetic overhaul and the new aspects of gameplay such as the ability to take control of the titular Titans.

Gameplay

Crash of the Titans is an action-oriented platformer, and like most games of its kind it places a focus on exploration, item collection and simple combat.

Combat

The standard combat in Crash of the Titans is very simple. Crash has a small arsenal of combat moves available to him, and his moveset can be increased through the acquisition of small blue orbs known as "Mojo". These orbs are scattered throughout the game's levels and can also be obtained by defeating enemies or smashing destructible parts of the environment.

The introduction of Titans to the series opens up some new aspects of combat, as is explained in the 'Titan Jacking' section below.

Titan-Jacking

The key new feature touted by Crash of the Titans is the ability to take control of, or "jack" the Titans that Crash comes up against. By jacking these weird and wonderful creatures, new actions will become available to Crash for as long as they remain under his control. These actions vary from Titan to Titan. Often, new combat possibilities will open up for Crash, allowing him to deal with other Titans more easily. Some Titans have specific abilities which are needed to progress through a level, either by clearing an obstacle or solving a puzzle.

Graphical Changes

One of the most noticeable differences regarding Crash of the Titans is the aesthetic changes made to the franchise's established characters. All the familiar cast received complete graphical overhauls, to the point where many characters bear very little resemblance to their original character models.
