    Creation Engine

    Concept »

Bethesda's new graphics engine for their upcoming game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

    Short summary describing this concept.

    Overview

The engine is capable of various tasks such as dynamic shadows and lighting, as well as dynamic snowfall. The engine can determine where are rocks, trees etc. so that it can let snow fall seamlessly on objects rather than clip. Radiant AI and the newly introduced Radiant Story is also incorporated from the previous Gamebryo engine. Havok Behavior is also included.

    Details

One of it's best features is its ability to render realistic trees and foliage by using individual animations for specific points. This is done by having different weight variables distributed across separate branches.

Allowing for much more realistic swaying, and adds more variety rather than having every tree use the same animation. Weather effects such as strong violent winds or blizzards and their effects on the environment can truly be displayed.
