Can't wait to download this tomorrow. As if the game didn't look just fine already.

The video was freaking out and kept glitching in and out of focus.

EDIT: Weird, it went away after I paused and started the video.

Is the multiplayer still broken on the PC?

#5 Edited by superscott597 (109 posts) -

I may jump on the Crysis 2 bandwagon at some point. Single player looks good...

EDIT: Also, interesting to note that UDK got all these updates months ago. Crytek being left behind? These are dark times...

I have no idea what half these acronyms even mean, but dang. It looks good.

Too bad my computer is 5 years old :V

"Custom Shape Based Bokeh DOF"

HOT.

High res textures as "free DLC"? Woah. Amazing. Sign of the times, I guess.

While I admit it does look really nice, I have played and beaten Crysis 2. Eye candy won't bring me back, sorry. Too little, too late.

And Parallax Occlusion is my new experimental indie post-grunge techno solo album

#13 Posted by Depth (354 posts) -

I was going to buy Crysis 2 but they pulled it off steam :(

#14 Posted by Bakumatsu (337 posts) -

The things they showed were so high end that my pc almost didn't have requirements to run the video.

#15 Posted by mrangryface (771 posts) -

Speaking of STEAM, will this DLC/Update be distributed there too? I bought my copy on STEAM at release.

You need the 1.9 patch which will be fine, but everyone needs to download the DX11 assets and high res texture update on the Nvidia site.

@superscott597: Having it appear in a dev kit is one thing, having it appear in a released game is something else. id made great strides with realtime shadows in Doom 3, but Starbreeze beat them to market with Chronicles of Riddick.

Damn son look at those tire tracks!

Looks great.

Too bad I don't like the game's universe (I did watch hamsteralliance's playthrough).

#21 Posted by Alex_S (27 posts) -

Looks amazing! Now if it would only come back onto steam!! I was waiting for the DX11 patch to buy it, but now.....

#22 Posted by Lt_Kernel (7 posts) -

Just re-played a couple of levels, the DX11 update has made an already fine looking game that much better.

Although, I did drop the 'Object' setting down to Extreme from Ultra (which is all the tessellation) and got good performance from my Crossfire 6970s.

downloading now. Let's see what these 2 570's can do.

Meh, not impressed....A bunch of BS im not even going to notice unless I stand still and stop playing the game altogether.   Christ I couldnt even see the difference in the comparisons.  DX9 dark, DX11 bright....looked like comparing PS3 to Xbox with their contrasts always being different.

Dat water... Won't buy it from Origin though, fuck that.

#26 Posted by turilas (25 posts) -

huh, I had no idea that Giant Bomb posts porn videos

Remember when Id Software and Epic Megagames used to include 10 new maps with their patches, as a thank you to the people who had bought their game?

Of course, I think Valve might have been the first to 'charge' for a high res pack, as you originally had to purchase Blue Shift to get the high quality graphics pack for Half-life 1, though it's been made available for free after Half-life Generation got on Steam.

You would be surprised to find that there is no bandwagon.

I find this funny, it's not like Creative Assembly made a big deal out of launching the DX11 support for Shogun 2 a few months after release. Granted they did advertise the game as having it right out the box.

#31 Posted by Arrested_Developer (699 posts) -

Variable Penumbra was such a good game.

#32 Posted by Mordi (553 posts) -

What? No Beta Alpha Kappa Gamma-Ray Mega-LLAMA-rendering?

#33 Posted by Uberjannie (282 posts) -

There is a reason why I waited to play this game. A Crysis game without the latest tech? Shame on them.

I'd forgotten about that for a second and was wondering why I couldn't find it on Steam.

Until it comes back I ain't going to bother getting Crysis 2.

Nvidia sponsored?
Still DX11 in crysis mode for the AMD guys?

#36 Posted by UnlivedPhalanx (470 posts) -

Wish this game was available on the OnLive platform.

LLAMA rendering coming in the DX12 update in the future. ;)
#39 Posted by LoggerRythm (190 posts) -

Seems to me all of that should have been with the game from day one.
Back when I first heard developers were getting lazy because of patching, I had my doubts, but now I don't know?

#40 Posted by cwdawg1224 (275 posts) -

@Mordi: Their llamas are already of the highest graphical quality.

#41 Posted by deltaalphabravo (127 posts) -

I wonder what's going to happen first: "Your display driver has stopped responding" or heat induced bsod? :P

#42 Posted by ds8k (412 posts) -

Game runs like ass now on my 960 @ 3.6GHz and 6970. Oh well.

#43 Posted by Strife777 (1433 posts) -

No interest in Crysis 2 whatsoever. But jesus christ! That is impressive.

#44 Posted by KillyDarko (1888 posts) -

This is awesome, because it actually is, but it's just too bad that I've been done with this game for ages now... : /
I'll still download it, just in case I decide to replay the game at some point in the future.

#45 Posted by FuzzYLemoN (1600 posts) -

That looks swell, I guess. I'm still waiting for Crysis 2 to drop to $20.

#46 Posted by PillClinton (3284 posts) -

I love that this exists

#47 Posted by MisterMouse (3531 posts) -

man cool stuff, and I am glad you dont have to buy this stuff.

#48 Posted by Rasgueado (702 posts) -

I'm glad (I guess) that this new patch will be punching up the fidelity a bit higher for Crysis 2. The problem for me is that it won't fix the problem I had with the game, which was that I hated they way they streamlined the game from Crysis.

#49 Edited by Bummey (603 posts) -

I bought Crysis 2 as a show piece for the new computer I had just built (thanks Tested!). While it was fantastically good looking, I was hoping to see it shine even more with the "upcoming" DX11 update. Now it's, what, four months later? The honeymoon is over and I can't be fucked to care about this. Too late, Crytek.

#50 Edited by buckybit (1460 posts) -

f i n a l l y.

now I have to make myself care...

This should have been included out of the box, but publisher(?) probably wanted a) the game out earlier b) people to think, the XBox360 version is not "worse" than the PC version?

This is the first game on their new CryEngine - it should have been the showcase title to show off and deliver what they constantly claimed to have ("the latest and greatest tech" - when it comes to dynamic lightning, I tend to agree, btw - for the moment)

So in 4-5 months the 'next' ÜBER Patch? = AI that is worth playing against? Multiplayer that 'works'? Anti-Cheat Program? A GOOD story?

... so much left to do, for a title that already is almost forgotten? Unlike Crysis 1.

It might be 'prettier' now, but not better. We all know.
