As with all blockbuster franchises that people generally like (or are at least indifferent toward), the question surrounding the unveiling of next entry in Crytek's rather popular Crysis series wasn't so much one of "if" as "when." The answer? Right now! Sort of.

The odds of that price sticking are...poor, at best. But that bow is pretty bitchin', right?
The odds of that price sticking are...poor, at best. But that bow is pretty bitchin', right?

Though it hasn't been officially announced just yet, Crysis 2 publisher EA inadvertently let the nanotechnology-enhanced cat out of the alien infested bag a tad early last night, putting up a page for the game on the company's Origin system before quickly pulling it down. Not quick enough, however, as the Internet, ever-watching as it is, managed to snag the relevant screenshots before EA went into "pretend this doesn't exist" mode.

The listing has only been verified via screenshot (and the $49.99 price point for all versions listed suggests this was either an inaccurate test page or just a flat-out lie), but the likelihood of the game's existence stems from other evidence as well. CVG teased a major new project from Crytek just a month ago, and Swedish video game magazine Game Reactor has been teasing a cover for its forthcoming issue that would seem to point toward a new Crysis franchise entry.

All of this should, of course, be taken with a grain of salt until EA sends out an official press release of some kind, or at least until someone can verify that Game Reactor cover story. That said, the idea of a Crysis 3 existing isn't exactly hard to believe. Now, if you'd said that Crytek was finally going to be unveiling TimeSplitters 4, then I might have a little trouble believing you. But this? It's practically a foregone conclusion. (Sorry, TimeSplitters fans.)

Well...Crysis 2 was good, but thoroughly underwhelming as a sequel. And here I was thinking the first half of Crysis 1 was the future of shooter design.

At this point, I can't be bothered. I'll wait for Timesplitters 4.

A crossbow? I love the Crysis series, but damn if it's too bad what they did with the console versions of Crysis 2. Bugs everywhere, and one thing that hindered all platforms was somewhat bad voice acting. Also, put the prone feature back in. I think since I like Crysis so much, the lack of Timesplitters talk is OK. I still wish they made a fourth one though.

Still prefer the gameplay of Crysis over Crysis 2. Sneaking through jungles on the hardest difficulty really made crysis for me. Shooting down a tree and having guards run over to investigate only to have me sneak up behind them and kill them with a duck throw to the back of the head is really damn satisfying.

I spent well over 100 hours just messing around in the sandbox editor.

I won't be buying anything on Origin, I made an exception for Battlefield 3.

Considering how long Crysis 2's been out for, I'm expecting nothing more than Crysis 2.5. Loved Crysis 1, and really enjoyed Crysis 2 for what it was, but if they have another main theme as irritating as 2's I will microwave the fucking disk. The amount they used that main theme during 2's campaign made me want to murder innocent fuzzy creatures.

You hear that Crytek? Think of the fuzzy creatures, you bastards!

Saw this on gaf earlier today, very excited, especially if the New York jungle-ized setting is true. I loved Crysis 2 a whole lot, although it is a completely different game from Crysis 1, I still enjoyed it. Can't wait to see 3.

Copying the details since you didn't:

    - Will be situated in a destroyed New York, which has become almost a jungle.
    - Promise the best sandbox fps on the market.
    - There will be a limited and Hunter edition of Crysis 3.
    - PC, Xbox 360, PS3.
    - Out in the spring of 2013.
    - April 15 announcement.

Not going to lie, this actually sounds kind of fucking awesome.

I never played the original Crysis due to the fact that I never had a competent PC at the time but I always heard great things about it but I did play Crysis 2 on the 360 and thoroughly enjoyed it so I'm looking forward to the third.

Perhaps now that I have solid gaming PC, I'll give the first Crysis a go.

Free Radical was working on it when they got bought and weren't able to find a publisher. Crytek said a year ago that they might have an interest in picking TimeSplitters 4 back up but wouldn't be able to even consider it until after Crysis 2 was out. But since those guys are now working on Homefront 2, I have a feeling it's never, ever going to come out. :'(

I guess it's been over a year, but the news for a third seems to be a little early. It may still be a good game, but they're never going to have the "Wow" impact the original did with these steady releases.

It was a very different game. It wasn't as open as Crysis 1 but still a lot more open than most other first person shooters. I liked the art direction, music and enemy design more plus the AI for the aliens was decent. A more cohesive experience than the original. The VTOL level just didnt feel right. Much preferred the story too. Ultimately it's opinion and even though Crysis 1 is my favourite first person shooter of all time I still liked 2 even if it wasnt the same game.

About a year later, they finally updated Crysis 2 to be the game that almost looks as good as the first one. I don't have a lot of faith, especially becaue I don't like the gameplay in all these games (starting with the first Far Cry) enough to justify a purchase without MAXIMUM GRAFIX.

Additionally: OH FUCKING GOD I WANT TIMESPLITTERS 4; ALL THEY HAVE IS THAT OLD CONCEPT ART WITH THE BADASS NUN FUUUUUUCK I WANT TIMESPLITTERS 4.

I loved Crysis 2 and could never wrap my head around the people who bitched about it not being as good as Crysis 1 on the PC. The game was more efficient, just because it didn't bring your PC to its knees doesn't mean it didn't look as good. Crysis 2 looks incredible on the PC! Very excited for a third.

Why are the pc and xbox360 version the same price? The pc version should be cheaper. I guess EA are just a bunch of greedy cunts expecting pc gamers to be dumb and fall for the hype again?

I wont, fuck you EA. Crysis 2 was a colossal dissapointment and you are assholes to the max. Your origin prices are a fucking joke.

I thought the digital pre-order for SimCity which is coming out in 2013 was crazy but pre-ordering before a game is announced is pushing the envelope.
