The teaser shows how the Psycho Squad might acquire a new member.
The Psycho Squad specializes in combating "psychos" -- individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body.
There comes a point when they overdose on these innovations, and their bodies start to rebel against their biological body parts as well as all things organic around them. Simply put, they start killing people, who they now derisively call "meatbags."
When a psycho goes on the rampage, strange things can happen. There's carnage, and the psycho might be taken down by regular police, but they're not always able to get the job done.
When things spin out of control, they call in MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division), popularly called the Psycho Squad.
With all the hype for this, I'm pretty disappointed there's still no gameplay. I'm pretty excited for the game, but we still no practically nothing about it.
I've never been into The Witcher since fantasy settings do nothing for me, but hopefully they'll be able to do a good job with this. I think the logo looks silly though.

The game's based on Cyberpunk 2020 and that logo is basically synonymous with that system, so yeah.

This looks so awesome. Love the direction and the trailer.
Big news about Witcher 3 being almost done. Reveal next month and it's full on open world. Pretty crazy. It's in a secret message that's flashed at the end of the trailer if any of you missed it. I thought about making a new thread for the info but it's not much to go off yet.
CDPR's CG has always accurately reflected tone and in general what the game action will be like.

Downloaded the song, lovin' the trailer. I'm personally hoping for a FPS with RPG-Elements, but knowing CD Projekt RED it will be awesome no matter what it ends up being. If it ends up graphically bombing like The Witcher, it'll be a new benchmark.
I'm very curious to find out what the combat will be like.
This just skyrocketed to my #1 most anticipated thing.
I still need to finish the Witcher 1 and then start the Witcher 2. But I don't want to feel like I'm rushing through either. Bah, I'll probably just be playing this and years later feel like the time is right to dive into the Witcher world (and actually finish).
The Witcher 2 is one of my favorite games, and I love me some Ghost in the Shell/ Blade Runner/ Deus Ex. This is by far one of my most anticipated games at the moment; hopefully we will see some gameplay soon. This should also fill the void of Prey 2 nicely if things continue to progress the way they have with that game.
Man, I'm guessing this game will only be PC for a while like the witcher?
Most likely. Considering they own GOG.com, I don't think they would give up the chance to maximize their profits through that channel before they go through the effort of releasing on consoles.
Yeah guess what, I think the Witcher 2 is a bad game. What are you going to do about it? Both Techland and CDPR have yet to prove to me that they can make a good game.
Still super excited about this, even if this is just a ton of pre-rendered noise that doesn't really mean anything. This + Star Citizen = my reasoning behind a stupidly overexpensive GPU.
Plus if that gaf thread actually culled proper info, then TW3 will just be a reason to get said gpu early.

Okay tough guy. Oh man.
I posted on the last page but for those that missed it: Witcher 3 will be announced in February and is fully open world. Teased at the end of the trailer.

I'll be interested to see.
Witcher 2 coming to Xbox was a big step for them. I bet Witcher 3 will get a console release and so will this. And I would not be that surprised if it was simultaneous or close to it for both those games.
For those wondering, this is what the secret message says:
"Do you like our latest creation? We certainly hope so! : ) You may remember we sometimes send you guys secret messages like this. It's a great way for us to speak right to you instead of burying ourselves in corporate mumbo-jumbo. So let's begin!
First of all -- have you noticed all the details in our teaser (yes, it's a teaser, we'll make a proper trailer in the future)? If you know the Cyberpunk setting, there are some things you can spot, like implants -- look for the weapon hands and the real skin -- corporate emblems that should look familiar, and more. Happy hunting!
You're probably curious about the release date. It's currently scheduled a way off in 2015, but in truth the delivery date is more like "when it's done". We will release Cyberpunk to you when we're convinced it is nothing but pure, refined, unadulterated awesome. We want it to be the most kick ass futuristic RPG ever -- ok, maybe that sound pretty bully, but it is our actual goal! You judge if we deliver it!
Oh -- and you may wonder why we announced our game so early before the release. The reason is that we're still building our dev team, so if you are a talented dude or dudette, willing to work in a really different company (gamers rules & boring corporate stuff drools!) on a super ambitious project, send us your application right now. careers@cdprojektred.com.
So, you want to know what kind of game Cyberpunk 2077 will be? The short description is that it will be a story-heavy nonlinear open world RPG based on the well known Cyberpunk pen & paper system and setting. Building open world games is something we are mastering right now, and we belive (sic) that properly joining nonlinear gameplay with an excellent story telling will bring a totally new quality. Hmm... We'll tell you more about it soon!
And that's not all that's new! We are about to reveal our other project, which is much closer to being completed, and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we're talking about -- on the 5th of February, it will all be clear.
So stay tuned as we will have a lot to show and tell you soon!
We are waiting for you on our newly created forum called Afterlife -- what other name could we have chosen for it?
@Vinny_Says: Can you elaborate on why you consider the Witcher 2 to be a bad game? I can understand not enjoying it, but I can't think of anything about it that is "bad".
Looking at the bit of art the wiki page has made me interested in it. Then this trailer kind of killed it. Would have like to see a lot more than that. And the song didn't fit what I was expecting at all. Welp, I'll keep an eye on it as things progress.
Oh. 2015. Well then. Something like this makes sense. I'll get hype in a few years.

The game won't even be out until 2015. Part of the trailer is a recruitment pitch for people to join the team.
There's no material you could build a synthetic human out of that would take zero impact from armor penetrating bullets and there wont be in the future. I guess that why I almost exclusively like fantastical settings because you can explain away all the bullshit by saying "because magic" where as in cases like this it just strikes me as an entirely different and significantly less acceptable version of dumb. Also using melee weapons when guns and nay future guns exist is the definition of retarded.
Kind of is. This seems to be building on the original fiction and that took place in 2020 and had full on cyber punk stuff going on. So if this is building off that, and it seems to be from what I'm reading, we are talking 57 years after they already had some of this same future tech.
So it kind of is just fantasy if you look at it that way.
Either way, we are talking video games, where a player character has to be able to take a bullet and walk away. Get over it. If the lore of the world actually bakes that in then that's better than something like Uncharted where I take 500 bullets in gameplay but once in a cutscene fucks Drake up bad.
Awesome, can't wait for this! I enjoyed both Witcher and Witcher 2! Pretty cool pre-rendered stuff there but some gameplay would have been better though.
Shamelessly stealing from those who are digging into the trailer on NeoGAF and know the fiction: seems the cop is probably the player character, he disables and recruits the killer cyborg girl, called a Psycho in the fiction. She's with him in some kind of vehicle at the end bald. Maybe she was wearing a wig or something? (EDIT: Some think the whole trailer besides that end sequence was a flashback to how she got recruited)
I guess in the fiction a cyborg who has gone crazy can be reprogrammed to become under control again. So it seems she is disabled and then taken in as part of the Psycho Squad that the player is part of.
Yeah like Shadowrun or something it works in theory, only problem is.
CD Projekt RED's new RPG based on the Pen & Paper game by Mike Pondsmith. It's inspired by Blade Runner and implements mature themes and will be set in a realistic and rich futuristic world.
W/e though I'm just projecting my own senility on what will otherwise likely be a good game, pay me no mind.
@jacksmedulla: It's been a while but from what I remember: The protagonist is one-dimentional, and even then as the great monster slayer that he is, he is easily defeated my stupid elves. The world feels like any of the other thousands of fantasy stories out there, and I was often left feeling like I'm supposed to know exactly what the hell happened in the witcher books (yeah I didn't read them, so I should be punished). I couln't be bothered to pay attention at some point, even during the porno bits.
I thought the UI was poor and the game could have used some fast travel. On consoles when you die the game over screen has to load....I don't know what that's about. There are some serious difficulty spikes as well that bummed me out. Why do I have to mediatate to do shit? Is it really hard to just drink the damn potion? I don't see the point of having 2 sword types. If one is strong enough to kill monsters it's fine to use on humans too. The combat is miles ahead of the competiotion but I still spent the whole game just slashing and jumping out of the way. Maybe that was my own fault but I was still bored in the end. There's probably more I could tell you but I just finished slogging through RAGE and all my thoughs are preoccupied by how terrible that game is :)
The future of video games has always been and will always be shaped improved boosted and driven forward by PC developing masterminds.
From id to Valve to to to........ all the way to CD Projekt RED today - The torch is being passed. These are the innovators.. What a promising-ass trailer that was. Promising on a whole new level.
