Just finished the bomb cast for the week and I just wanted to say. I truly enjoy what Dan Ryckert has brought to the team, he is just really genuine and I really respect his honesty. Thank you for adding so much to Giant Bomb and I look forward to the future.
Dan Ryckert
Senior Editor at Giant Bomb from 2014 to 2020. Formerly of Game Informer. Author, Guinness World Record holder, lifelong wrestling mark, and failed musician. After a brief stint as Podcast Producer at WWE Ryckert returned to help guide the next generation of Giant Bomb.
Dan Ryckert you're amazing!
I really enjoy the amount of content now, and I really enjoy how Dan seems to be genuinely excited about so much.
Dan Ryckert is the spitting image of what the general public views "gamers" as. Not knowing jack squat about food, using a shoe box to heat up hot dogs, and falling back on "just because" as his argument of choice.
Entertaining as shit... but damn. Someone on the forum said it best: "how he has survived this long is beyond me."
I'm loving Dan and his contribution to GB... but someone needs to explain the credits from his wiki page immediately!
- L.A. Noire - Face Mapped
- inFamous: Second Son - Face Mapped
@hurricaneivan29: I donno. I'd say he's much more a stereotypical "American" than a stereotypical "gamer."
Depending on the company he's in, I imagine Dan is either the best or worst "I've never" player in the world.
@development: Maybe in the eyes of asinine people that look negatively at Americans. I'm speaking in the context of Americans.
@bigjeffrey: Dan Ryckert is bringing all the best stupid back to Giant Bomb. Thank you Dan.
For me its not so much that he represents gamers he is just Dan, and who he is to me is refreshing and hilarious.
Dan Ryckert is a 8 year old who got Big'd and is now 30 something. He's full of childlike enthusiasm but also thinks you can eat egg shells and forks.
@alchemistzer0: Never said he "represents" gamers, but when everyday people mention "gamers," I imagine Dan haha

Yep, definitely a Big scenario, or he has Jack syndrome.
He is def a cup of fresh air. The enthusiasm since a) his arrival b) Vinny and Alex in NY and c) Brad taking lead on the BC has been fantastic.
Really I was skeptical of B and C but the crew certainly has come into its own bringing a new era of entertainment. I fucking wish Ryan was here though, him and Dan would be awesome together

I always thought Ryan and Dan had really great chemistry from the word go. I would have loved to see those two with both their different types of boyish glee about videogames in a video.
I'm starting to think that Dan may be one of the first wave of lizardmen. I can't believe most of the things he says about his life, he can't be human...though I'm not sure why lizardmen would want to infiltrate GiantBomb.
Better question is why wouldn't anyone want to infiltrate Giant Bomb? I'm sure anyone would do it if given the chance.
You know what, Dan has some crazy/terrible/insane opinions on some things, and somehow that makes him even better. He hasn't been around long but I already love the guy. He fits in perfect around here while bringing some totally different things to the table. He also seems like a genuinely nice guy, probably a ton of fun to hang out with. Real glad they hired that dude.
@villainy: The perks of working at Game Informer I suppose.
Title should've been "Dan Ryckert you're an amazing" and then let the (Person) tag fill in the rest. Suppose the mods might've frowned upon it though, but hey, I'd have at least thought it clever.
ANYWAYS. Yeah Dan's great. I like the little pattern forming that Brad joked about where he introduces the crew to a game and then summarily destroys them all at it. Dude was alright by me first time I saw him on the E3 bombcasts. I think it was the online dating prank one with all the guys in a blue shirt on a bridge. Maybe he was on before that, but I'm preeetty sure that's the first memory I've got of the guy.

Exactly!
Jump on the butt!
@sgtpierceface: That's almost kinda shady. If I didn't know Dan was such a manchild, I would've assumed shenanigans.
Dan Cracks me up. But sometimes i cant believe the questions he asks. I would like to start seeing and hearing some more of Jason though.
Keep up the great work new guys.

The thing is that everyone knows he's a manchild.
Dan obviously makes a great addition to the team, but I'm really looking forward to hearing what he can bring to the Game of the Year discussions.
Dan vehemently argued that garlic aioli was not mayonnaise because it didn't say mayonnaise on it. You really want to hear him in a 12 hour debate?
Childlike wonderment is fine and all, but he's also just childish (see Mario Party video and obnoxious Brad-beefing).

WHAT? I knew he was in inFAMOUS, but holy moly! Now I've got to go replay LA Noire (again!) to see this!
I'm not a huge fan so far tbh but I haven't been listening to the latest Bombcasts since I'm working my way through the archives atm...
Is he jokingly moronic, or has he really lived in a bubble for his life?
Well, both I guess.
But as he acknowledges on last week's bombcast, he's completely aware that he lives completely differently to millions of grown-up American men, yet he's perfectly blissful in his ignorance. Fair play to him!
I remember when he appeared on that E3 podcast 2 or 3 years ago, telling a story about how he pranked a whole bunch of guys on a dating website. I remember thinking he sounded relatively formal and professional despite his joker reputation. Very calm, composed, very on point if you will.
How wrong I was.
I find it amazing that he apparently owns Patton on DVD (according to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88sRCUcNR7A), yet didn't know about the North Africa campaign.
Either way, he's been a great addition to the the bombcast and video content, I just find that part fascinating.
Dirty Dan held it down good last night he and his sister streamed super late.
yeah that was great. very CHILL.
Yeah, at first I thought he would be too showbiz and boring. But after I learned he used to eat out of a fucking SHOEBOX ?!?! He fits right in with those dirtbags :)
@jimmyfenix: Oh, if I knew it was multiplayer I woulda tuned in. Hopefully he'll do another!
