Daniel joined the production of Mortal Kombat in 1992 primarily for the role of Johnny Cage. He also took the task of being the first to wear the mask of the franchise's ninja as he portrayed Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile. In Mortal Kombat II, he continued his work in these roles, while adding new ninja in that of Smoke and Noob Saibot. Daniel's younger brother Carlos joined him on the project as Raiden.
In 1994, Daniel was fired by Midway for appearing as Johnny Cage in an ad for BloodStorm, a fighting game from Incredible Technologies. He went to work for Data East in their production of Tattoo Assassin's, another fighting game that used digitized graphics like MK, but the game would never be released. Daniel then joined former MK castmates Dr. Phillip Ahn, Katalin Zamiar, and Ho Sung Pak at Atari in the development of Thea Realm Fighters. Much like before, this game would also never be released, as Atari abandoned the Jaguar system before the game was completed.
