I will never be satisfied until he is not a punk again. He wasn't in 1 and 4. And even in 3, he was only kinda punky.

Which is a shame, because the game actually looks pretty cool. Not gonna buy it though. Unless I do. But I'm going to resist.

Well as someone who literally knows nothing about DMC, looks fine to me. Also isn't this a prequel? Doesn't it make sense that he's a little more rash and 'punky' in his youth?

It's a reboot. DMC3 was the prequel where he was more rash an punky.

I feel like the internet sees Ninja Theory is Judas with Caiphus and Annas as Capcom to Dante's Jesus.

Especially with this bit of information about Capcom I got on Wikipedia.

"Reception to the new design of Dante and direction of the series was largely negative. In an interview, Capcom revealed that they knew Dante's new look would be met with negative backlash and that they pressed forward with this in mind. DmC is an origin story. In August 2011, new screenshots revealed that the design for Dante had undergone changes.

If I was a bigger DMC fan, I'd be much more worried about Ninja Theory's questionable reputation on the gameplay front than anything else.

After the re-design, DmC Dante doesn't really look like that developer anymore.

I still think he looks ugly, but it really doesn't matter what dante looks like. What I'm most concerned about is whether or not Ninja Theory is capable of making a good DMC game.

2. He shows a lot of character dept, possibly through the use of a love interest.

Thats what Ninja Theory does though. Narrative and voice acting are top notch (based on Enslaved). So the character seems like he'll be well done when the game actually comes out.

Where's Dante? All I see is Tameem Antionides.

While I think there's been a big over-reaction about the new character design, I don't exactly think these images are going to win back anyone who already thinks the new look for Dante sucks.

I have no problem with it. Sure it's trying hard to be "cool" but that has always been the tone of Devil May Cry games.

Dude, I don't even really connect with the DMC games and I think his new look is pretty rad.
