" For gameplay, the main thing is that our hero has this kind of split personality and in a way there’s a kind of moral duality to the game and it’s not just in the story, it’s not just in the occasional moments, like in BioShock where every once in a while you have the Little Sisters and you have to choose to either save them or harvest them, but for us we put that in the second-to-second combat so all the big finish moves, where you might have some variety in how you take the guys head off or whatever, we actually put an instant, fast-paced choice on those finish moves. We basically call that Righteousness, it’s sort of a Holy or Unholy way of playing the game and it permeates throughout the game and when people play the finished version they’ll see that there’s a whole levelling system, kind of like a mini-RPG, in there. You can play down the Holy path or the Unholy path and it permeates through the magics, which are themed, so if you’re a more Holy character then the Holy magics will be more powerful and Unholy magics will be less powerful. There are relics and collectables that you can find and equip, you decide which are equipped and those are themed Holy or Unholy as well. God Of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and some of the giants of the genre are usually a little more linear in terms of the abilities of the character. There are a lot of abilities, but you don’t really get to choose what path you’re going to go down. Our upgrade tree is really open-ended and from the very beginning you’re always choosing which things you want to. "
