Dante’s Inferno places you in the shoes of Dante, reimagined as a warrior from the Crusades instead of the author of the Divine Comedy (why they didn’t just rename the character...?) on which the game is loosely based. He commits several sins in his while he is out fighting with the others, chief among them the act of adultery. Throughout the whole game, I got this feeling that this game was developed by a committee of executives who really hate folks like Joseph Lieberman and wanted to create a game that would blatantly piss in their Cheerios. The Third Crusade's Kratos God of War took the third person action brawler and made it something new. Dante's Inferno takes God of War and... that's about it. It's not as polished as God of War, the fighting system is simplified, and the setting is roughly based on the Hell envisioned by Dante Alighieri in 1321 rather than roughly based on the entirety of Greek mythology. The thing was ridiculously short though. As I have read the divine comedy though I found it terribly dissatisfying as it bore little to no resemblance to the actual story. But I suppose that's to be expected how could you market a game based on philosophy? It was a satisfying game to play, short though, once again, little to no replay value. The game has pretty tight controls and some really fun powers and moves. The only part of the game that frustrated me were some of the level designs.
