Dark Sector's got great-looking character models, but the slow and repetitive gameplay really holds it all back.

Use your glaive to chop off your enemies' heads in this third-person action-shooter from D3 and Digital Extremes.
Overview
Dark Sector was developed by Digital Extremes for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and was released on March 25, 2008. Originally planned to be set in a sci-fi setting with the main character being a man in an advanced armored suit, it was later changed to a more realistic setting in a Russian base. The developers stated that this was because of other developers and publishers shifting their attention to more realistic settings, and to make the main character more unique and the story easier to relate to.Gameplay revolves around gunplay and the use of a bladed projectile weapon called a glaive that the main character Hayden produces from his body. The glaive can be used to stun enemies or cut them to pieces, and the player can control the path of the glaive to kill several enemies with just one throw. It can also capture elements such as fire and electricity for puzzle-solving, and collect items that are too far for Hayden to reach. There is also a heavy amount of gunplay, which is reminiscent of Gears of War, with a similar over-the-shoulder perspective and cover system. eapons can also be upgraded as you progress through the game.
The story begins with Hayden Tenno, an agent of the CIA, being sent to the Soviet nation of Lasria. Hayden suffers a disease called congenital analgia which does not allow him to feel pain. He is sent in to kill another agent named Viktor and then go after a man named Mezner. Mezner is the man responsible for the unleashing the Technocyte Virus, a disease that transforms all who are infected into powerful mutated creature. The mutation process is so painful that it leads the infected to madness. As Hayden tracks down Mezner, he meets a creature in an armored suit called Nemesis. After a brief fight Hayden is defeated and infected, but due to his disease, he is not driven into madness and can use this disease to find and kill Mezner.
