@believer258: The framerate in Demon's Souls is like 15-20ish the whole time, but it chugs down to like 5ish on the bridge (still a cool bridge though) and during some of the later fights (Blighttown is around 15 constantly, rest of Dark Souls is around 30); there's absolutely no doubt that visually and technically Dark Souls is the superior game. If you compare the Gwyn and Flamelurker fights linearly Gwyn's movements are much easier to see happening whereas if you're trying to dodge Flamelurker appropriately without just backing off you sort of have to guess at the right frames, which it is possible to do mind but a lot more finnicky, purely due to Dark Souls running better.

Played and absolutely ADORED Demon's Souls, spent a grand total of over 500 hours on the game, doing new game plus and pvp. Then played Dark Souls, not quite as much but still a damn lot. I find Dark Souls to be the superior game. At first I didn't like the structure of Dark Souls as much, I just thought the individual world layout somehow lent itself better to what the series was. As I played Dark Souls more I came to appreciate the design more and more. Its more natural and has a better flow to it, well at least logically. It might be easier to follow the layout of Demon's Souls but Dark Souls has freedom and exploration that Demon's Souls do not. Dark Souls also handles the systems better, from estus flask to crafting its all generally more well made. Bosses is another thing I think Dark Souls is slightly better at, more variety and overall more interesting bosses.

Its really hard to me, to other than that point out one as a clear winner. I think both are just magnificent games and some of the best of the last generation. I just have been coming around to Dark Souls more and more, despite playing Demon's Souls more and before.

If Dark Souls II ever pops up on the PS4, I'll consider taking a dive into the series.

    ...

    Cheese.

played it both on PS3 first and they were burtal, but they looked a muddy disaster and the framerates were very bad, ended up picking up Dark Souls PC and while Vanilla was terrible, with DSfix the game looked and ran leagues better than console.

I'm a bit of a foodie and I think that Dark Souls has been released between Demon Souls and Dark Souls II
