Something i have been curious about is how do you pick your armor?

    • For looks
    • Purely stats
    • Mixture of both

I guess i have always done a mixture of both but always prefer looks over having better stats. I play as a quick character so dodging deadly attack is more my style than high poise blocking. But what do you guys do?

Stats are important to be, but if it makes my character slower I don't wear it. Characters are much slower in Dark Souls than they were in Demon's Souls and I don't like trudging along. Speed, baby.

i like using havels ring and the dark wood grain ring so i can wear 50% armor weight and still have super roll but the higher poise the better since i use a Zweihander its important but i wont sacrifice the roll

I kind of do both. I like the way the elite knight armor looks with the silver knight chest piece. But if a boss is trouncing me I switch over to what is a combination of havel's armor and the gold hemmed set that combined is much better than my default but looks really stupid.

Stats are most important, but I am not going to wear something hideous.

I go with stats for the most part. I will sometimes switch to a cooler looking armor set or weapon if I'm backtracking through some of the beginner areas.

purely for looks, i don't care about armor stats. I will switch to certain armor sets if its needed (like in blight town or certain boss fights or something) but generally I don't need to.

Looks and speed. Most of the lighter armor is all 1 or 2 stat point differences so I always go for looks. I'll never get rid of my thief's hood :D

Yeah i do a combo of this i will change if the situation calls for it like ninja set/gold-helm set for blight town. But for the longest time i liked the wanderer hood and the leather armor set. Now i switch to a mix of silver knight chest, black iron leggings and wanderer hood.

I like to wear something that makes me feel feminine, yet strong.

Wait, what were we talking about?

Looks first weight second, stats third. Even in Dark Souls it is more about skill. Your number 1 defensive line will always be the shield anyway and that I definitely am not picking based on looks. I won't go over the 50% limit though, fat roll is horrid, so is the slow movement. So even if the armor is cool as all hell if it breaks the fat roll rule it stays in the bag.

Just like others it's looks then weight. Sometimes I might choose a slightly heavier armor if it has way better stats but I like to have some weight breathing room so I can maybe equip something else in my off hand.

I use Havel's set as I find it's a good balance between stats and looks, where Smaug's would be on the wrong end of that scale....although Havel's Greatshield makes most armor irreverent.

Then again, it's all about that poise, man. Nothing breaks my swing.

I go stats then weight. I don't care about looks except for the ugly smough's armor, but it's not even the best armor anyway.

Looks and any magic bonus. I pretty much expect to be OHKO'd anyway, so a shield is more important than armor to me.

Primarily I go for looks because the aesthetic in this game is second to none. However, there are times where a particular combat scenario calls for a change in gear, at which point I go for pure utility. Once I'm done, it's back to my aesthetically pleasing loadout.

Have you seen the Steel Armor? So badass. I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate it into my set.
