Darkseid is the uber-villain of the DC Universe. He rules the planet Apokolips with an iron fist.

Born Uxas, the son of Yuga Khan and Heggra. He was the prince of Apokolips and planned to take control of the planet. He killed his brother, Drax, and took the legendary Omega Effect. Uxas then fell in love with the scientist Suli and had a son, Kalibak. But Suli was then poisoned by Heggra who dislikes her, turning Uxas into an ever crueler individual. He then poisoned Heggra for vengeance and thus became the decisive ruler of Apokolips known as Darkseid. He married another woman years later whose name was Tigra and they had a son called Orion.

As Darkseid, he had Apokolips wage war with New Genesis. As a peace-offering Darkseid's son Orion was given to HIghfather from New Genesis. Scott Free, Highfather's son, was given to Darkseid, thus ending the war. Although maintaining peace with New Genesis, Darkseid is still an evil warlord. He always preparing to conquer other planets in the universe with his parademon army, and he plans to master a cosmic force named Anti-Life Equation to control all free wills in the multiverse.

Despite Darkseid's chaotically-destructive clashes with Superman, his appearance in Superman for the N64 was largely uneventful. An oversight in development allowed the player to stand in hallway near the warlord, far enough away to not trigger his introduction and attack, yet close enough to defeat him with heat vision uncontested.
