Because 'The Legend of War' Sounds Bad 0

Darksiders plays much as one might expect it to. Players take on the role of War, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse normally charged with maintaining balance between Heaven and Hell, in a quest for revenge against a figure known as the Destroyer for bringing about the Apocalypse early and causing humanity to be completely wiped out. War is able to slaughter a path through thousands of demons along the way, performing combos with various weapons, spending Souls to learn new abilities a...

An amalgamation of excellent ideas into a worthy whole 0

Drawing immediate comparisons to the likes of Sony's flagship God of War series is no mean feat for a game that was overlooked at launch due to Platinum Games' swift, excellent and ravishing combo-heavy Bayonetta , but Darksiders plays akin with some of the most effective and joyful videogame tropes available in an engaging, action-rich experience (albeit with a terrible and clichéd story to back it up!) Putting its emphasis on an ever popular hack-and-slash combat system may raise ...

    Holographic Apocalypse 0

Darksiders is an interesting game to me. It takes what was pretty awesome about God of War (sweet combos, smooth animation for those combos, and maneuverability), and pretty awesome about Zelda (huge dungeons, sweet treasure, boomerang - only a 4 sided blade of DEATH), and mixes them with a Metroid like overworld that encourages exploration, and rewards you with more stuff. This sounds like a very ideal combination - and it is - but you may feel pangs of "I've felt this before" syndrome as you p...

    Apocalypse Now 0

Darksiders is an action-adventure game developed by first timers Vigil Games.   You play as a character named "War", one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.  The Opening scene of the game shows the apocalypse of the world taking place prematurely and the four horsemen being blamed for starting the devastation. It is up to you "WAR" to find out who is behind it all and bring them to justice.   In typical game fashion, you are caught between angels and demons, have lost much of your power and ...

    My Crudepixel Reivew 0

Darksiders kicks off with a foot-stomping, bombastic beginning, literally. You’re thrown into the apocalypse of the human race, policemen struggling to put up a futile fight are dwarfed by hellish creatures, buildings are falling, and vehicles are being thrown around like marbles. Above you are magnificently designed winged warriors taking down helicopters and the ambience is a symphony of explosions, screams and mutilation. Thankfully, all of this horror is presented in one of the most beautifu...

    Darksiders 0

In the realm of gaming, there are many different kinds of genres one can condense to make a game play and feel fresh. Many such games have gone that route and not only made games that are considered classics to this day, but delivered games that made it awesome to be a gamer. Darksiders is one of those games that brings in a lot of great ideas and utilizes them to create a well done, yet minimally flawed experience. The story to Darksiders starts off in the world of flesh and bone. The forces of ...

    Restore the balance? 0

Is Darksiders a Zelda ripp-off ?thats not an issue ,the real problem of the game is the balance, yeah it's good ,it uses great features of famous franchises but suffers of fatal flaws.A combat system far from perfect ,only one competent weapon(the sword),useless items and spells, some tidious puzzle in the second part of the adventure and a last quest quite boring (lets collect some Triforce pieces, Yeah...).  But to be honest there is some good points :Ruin Joins the best horses of video games ,A...

    Wage War in Darksiders 0

Darksiders as you no doubt have heard takes elements from other games including The Legend of Zelda and God of War. This isn't a bad thing, as the feel of the game is probably the closest thing 360 and PS3 players have to playing as the great warrior Link and is also a great game for Nintendo fans who have multiple consoles and want something Zelda-like to play. As War, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, you will engage in battles with demons and angels as you uncover a plot that threat...

GoW Combat, Zelda structure = Better than either one 0

I've been loving the game. Just finished the worm-world. Yes, the structure borrows heavily from Zelda. But I think it improves on it exponentially by not having a boring first 5 hours. I think having a new compelling story and full voice-acting is a huge jump over all of the latest Zelda games with repetitive stories and text-only approach.  Also, the combat is way way way way way way better than Zelda.   If anything I'd say it feels like God of War with a exploratory Zelda structure. I'm 7 or...

Like a greatest hits with the end of the world theme. 0

Allot of ideas and innovations that are made in games are almost guaranteed to be picked up by other games and developers. In some cases, this helps to improve or make the ideas better, if elaborated on. Darksiders, Is not one of those games. It doesn't want to improve anything, it simply wants to give you the best of both worlds and it does to a point.      Because it's a bad-ass idea, you play as War, one of the Four-Horsemen. You've been betrayed or screwed over or something, I don't know...

A great first start for what is sure to be a promising franchise! 0

By now I am sure you are familiar with the constant Zelda references whenever you hear about Darksiders. That is rightfully earned. However, this does not pay homage to Zelda in the vein of 3D Dot Game Heroes. Rather it barrows concepts from Zelda. In fact, I would say the similarities fail in comparison to the ways they differ. Darksiders is sort of like if Zelda and Kratos had a baby. The combat system is very similar to God of War and there is a fair amount of platforming like you might expec...

For something I had no expectations for, it was pretty awesome! 0

I'm not going to even bother mentioning gameplay and all that, cause, well, I'm sure you know by now it's basically an M-Rated Zelda title seen through the eyes of a comic book artist.   This game is awesome, it has really good combat, even if it could use more moves/combos. I don't mean Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden combos, but just more and especially more for the extra weapons you can obtain. The exploration is perfect, there's a lot to see and a lot to collect.   What really makes this game for ...

    A Worthy Action Game 0

I just finished the bloodiest Zelda game ever. Maybe you have heard of it, it’s called Darksiders. You play as War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and you are summoned to Earth to do your part in the endwar between the three kingdoms initiated by the breaking of the seven seals as written in the great pact. As it turns out, its all just a setup, and now you are being blamed and since you are War, it seems only appropriate that your next course of action is to week out and destroy th...

    Good Zelda like game. 0

This game is great if you liked Zelda you will like this game. It's basically Zelda but with a more adult theme and a more robust story. Are there things I didn't like about it shit ya. Are they ignorable? Depends on your tolerance and game play preferences. Me I'm not a huge fan of hack and slash games like god of war and this is one of those hack 'n' slash games as far as the combat goes. But I will work my way through them for a interesting story and other gameplay elements I do like....

Darksiders: The Best Un-Original Game Out There 0

Darksiders takes ideas from pretty much every game on the market and never really masters any of them, but a game with this many ideas and a decent amount of variety is a game definetely worth the money.  Story:  You are War, one of the four horsemen. It has been fortold that the horsemen will come when heaven and hell meet in the domain of Man, but War is called prematurely and causes the death and destruction of the entire human race. To make things worse, you are blamed for it all and so need...

    Darksiders 0

Not often for me does a new game release take my by surprise. Undeservingly Darksiders was on my "pay no mind" list. It was interested but not foaming at the mouth for info. Darksiders put me in my place however and completely wowed me. You play as War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. His 3 horse riding side kicks are no where to be found after he is summoned to earth at what appears to be the biblical end times. You have to figure out why you were summoned and clear your name in the...

    Review: Darksiders 0

I rented the game via GameFly, got it in the mail on the seventh of January. I tried to like it, I really did. However, after blasting through the awesomeness that was Bayonetta, I couldn't bring myself to enjoy Darksiders on the same level. I know the games are very different, but story-wise when you compare them, Darksiders pales in comparison. Here's where I think the problem lies for me: Bayonetta had a ridiculous, over the top storyline and characters and was completely aware of that fact a...

Hey, You Got God of War in My Zelda! (Darksiders Review) 0

Like a bout of flu in the office, God of War style gaming seems to be going around the development community. This isn't anything unusual – when a game gets it right and has great success, it spawns a lot of imitators. Eventually the imitations become so pervasive (see Mario style platforming, for instance) that we forget they are imitations at all. Still, it's HOW you "re-use" ideas that really matters – you can crib concepts and still present a fairly unique experience. The difference with Da...

    Wicked Game Reviews 0

A lot of people are going to call this game a is a clone of other games like Zelda or God of War. It’strue the game does borrow a lot from those types of games but in no way is it a terrible thing. Zeldafor the dungeons and God of War for the hack and slash combat. If a game can pull off the amazingformula of those two vastly different genres and put them together into a smooth experience, then itmatter if its like anything else (as it's really hard to be new and be successful nowadays). The re...

    A better, more emo-y Zelda 0

Have you ever said to yourself, “Self, I’d really like to play Zelda, God of War, Portal, and Panzer Dragoon in the same game.”   Well, if you go out and pick up Darksiders your dream will finally come true.   Unfortunately if you’re expecting the same quality as those games you might be a little disappointed.   Darksiders is an action adventure game in which you play as War, one of the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse.   The story begins with you starting off the apocalypse, wrecki...

Epic Adventure, Hold the Fairies 0

Lets see if I can get through this review without mentioning Zelda... D'oh!  Just figured I would put in a few good words about this game, because it really deserves quite a bit of praise. Darksiders is a action adventure game with quite a bit going for it. Its got a fun combat system, looks great, and takes place in a large, interesting world thanks to a great art style.  The music won't take root in your brain but it goes well with the art style. The sound effects are very good but there are ...

WAR What is it good for...... 0

Darksiders is a game that takes a little of this and a little of that and produces a great game. I hear a lot of people saying that it is a Zelda rip off....ok and it takes the best of games and provides a new story. I admit that I bought twilight princess because of the name ZELDA. I have not played that game in over two years. The gameplay was there but the same old story. Now Darksiders is a game that takes Zelda, God of War and Devil May Cry but tells a story and has characters that I am int...

    Darksiders Review 0

Darksiders seemed like a bit of a Dark Horse releasing in a busy first quarter full of delayed winter titles. It’s a good thing it came out early, since it is a surprisingly decent game that is worth a rental. It won’t take long to figure out that Darksiders is a game strongly inspired by other games. Most notably, it plays like a mature Zelda game. Many of its game mechanics seem to be a direct homage to Zelda, with little additions inspired by other games as well. Because of this, Darksiders ...
