Little more than an interactive add
Dash of Destruction is a free game on Xbox Live Marketplace that serves as an advertisement for Doritos, the tasty brand of chips.
Dash of Destruction is the result of a contest organised by Doritos. The goal was to think up a creative game that had Doritos as it's central theme. A guy named Mike Borland won the contest, and he got to have his game made with NinjaBee. The end result is Dash of Destruction.
Surprisingly, Dash of Destruction is actually pretty fun. It reminded me of those internet games you can find on the internet. The premise of the game is that a T-rex is on the loose, and the creature has a taste for Doritos. It just so happens Doritos' delivery trucks are going 'round, so as the T-rex, you must chase them and eat them. You will get upgrades between each level from Mike, as well as an opposing dino that wants to steal your Doritos. It's pretty easy, so you'll quickly be done with the dino levels, but I actually had some cheap fun with it. I'll never replay the game, but it's better than I expected for a free game.
However, the delivery truck levels, where you drive around delivering Doritos are pretty stupid. You'll be chased by a dino or two, but the levels are so pathetically easy, the end will come very soon.
If you're an achievement whore, this is a game in the avatar family. You play the game for 10 minutes, and bam; you have an extra 200 points.
All in all, DoD isn't a great game, but it's a free distraction. However, the game made me want some Doritos, so it hasn't missed its goal.
