The Palermo Update (2008)
June 2nd 2008, the game received a surprisingly hefty update, which retrofitted the game with new Steamworks program (first utilised in the The Orange Box), which allows games to have achievements, stat-tracking and user icons. In addition, a brand new map dod_Palmero was added to the game. The whole game was transferred from the Half-Life 2: Episode One version of the Source engine to the newest version used in The Orange Box (often referred to as Source 2007). This allowed for higher quality textures and smoother framrates on high-end PC's. However, to achieve this boost in performance, Valve removed support for DirectX 7-based graphic cards in the Source engine, which rendered those particular users, who owned a DirectX 7-based graphics card unable to play the game. An official website with information on the update can be found here.
This is a great example of how Valve supports their products post release, with Day of Defeat: Source being nearly 3 years old.

This online, squad-based shooter set in World War II pits Axis and Allied forces against each other in ferocious battles on the European front.
Day of Defeat: Source is the sequel to the Half-Life mod Day of Defeat. It's running on Half-Life 2's Source engine and like Counter Strike: Source, it keeps true to the original formula, while making some minor tweaks to the gameplay. It is a World War II multi-player only FPS, where the players are divided amongst two teams: US Army (Allies) or Axis (Wehrmacht), and furthermore amongst 6 classes: Rifleman, Assault, Support, Sniper, Machine Gunner and Rocket. All classes on both sides have unique weapons. It has two main game modes: one being based around control points known from Battlefield 1942 and Team Fortress 2, and another mode revolving around one or both teams trying to bomb the enemy's strategic points. It is also the first Valve game other than the free Lost Coast level for Half-Life 2 to incorporate High Dynamic Range lightening.
