This will probably make them a ton of money on ps3 if they can convince the weird home people to stop spending money on home costumes when they could be spending it on DCUO costumes. If they can get those weirdos to make DC there new hang out, that would be a huge source of cash.

I'd download it just for the character creator

My friends and I are excited. Even if it's a pretty mediocre MMO, it'll be fun to have it for free on my PS3.

Would anybody say this is worth picking up now that it's soon to be free to play? Is it worth the initial $50-60 to enter?

I was going to get it but now I'm not going to waste 20+ GB on my bandwidth for a game I know I'm barely going to play and like.
