It looks like Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Far Cry and a bit of Borderlands all thrown together. With a bit of polish this could be very good, I'm now cautiously optimistic.

After a zombie virus sweeps across a beautiful island resort, survivors must fight their way to freedom while trying to find out exactly what went down in this open-world first-person action game.
11 minutes of Gameplay
Also, I'm not really down with first-person melee combat. Ever. Some people might be into it, but I've never found any appeal in it.That was my concern with this game as well. I'll probably pass on this unless I see something a bit more interesting. The game looks very rough. Environments looked good, but the combat ... meh. Too bad. It could still turn out great, but this preview didn't do much for me.Excitement for this game plummeted something serious.
I think it's looking great. They still haven't announced a release date so I'm sure they have time to touch it up a little, but it's hard not to expect some delicious open-world jank. I'm trying to think of a first-person kicking animation in a game that hasn't been awkward.
Combat looks intense- Condemned made me love first-person melee and when you add zombies I can't refuse. It's hard not to be excited for an open-world cooperative zombie game.
Really...I mean really? You do know thats how cars work in other countries right? i really hope your joking (Japan has a lot of them)Man this look like a sh*t load of fun. Look pretty too. The steering wheel is on the wrong side though but im sure they'll fix that.
The trailer reminded me a lot of an original Xbox game named Breakdown, which had first-person melee combat and occasionally you found a gun. I remember it being very fun, and the combat in this game seems like you'd just need a bit of time to get used to how the game judges distance and how it reads your actions in the hitboxes. The weapon combination mechanic could also make for a really awesome time, like that 'sticky bomb'.
[insert pessimistic comment about jankiness and animation for a game that doesn't come out for a while]
At least it looks different that most other games coming out these days, hopefully it'll be polished up before release, But I like the premise, and the genre mash up, hell even the jank won't be a deal breaker as long as the gameplay is solid. I don't usually play co-op games, but I like the 4 player campaign, it could be tons of fun...
As long as it's a cool world to explore, and it plays well, I'm in.
It just disappoints me that it is a big dumb zombie combat game, and that the whole thing seems like a wasted opportunity. There is a far more interesting game and story to made from that material instead of a combat game with flashing damage numbers on the screen. There are so many action games already, and there are many zombie action combat games. Therefore, the question really has to be, "Why does this need to exist?" It sends a shiver down my spine that we are getting games that feel like Postal or Redneck Rampage again.
Reminds me of Postal 2....Postal 2 is one of my all time favorite games, and i didn't really get that vibe
Obviously, like other posts are saying before me - it needs to be polished graphically still. But, I am still interested in it and am glad to see game-play. Also, I admittedly have not been keeping up with the news on this game, but learning that it will offer 4-player co-op makes me even more interested!
Yup. Classic Techland jank in full effect. Those guys need to stop making tech demos sold as games.hahaha
We all knew this game was going to be either awesome or poorly made when they released video gameplay. I'm sorry to all the people who think they will polish this game before it releases but its not going to happen. E3 is coming and that looks like a final build just with some tweaking before release.
Ask yourself when has a video game company made a come back with polishing their game to make it even better then what they have shown.... rip dead island
Looks pretty fucking excellent to me. Some of the animations are pretty bad, but hopefully stuff like that will be polished before the game's release. Graphically, the game is gorgeous though, and the dynamic gore effects look fantastic. Gameplay looks mostly solid; hopefully it's combat plays like Condemned, because that's what it reminded me of the most.
God of War III had the money behind it to back it up. If i remember right gow3 is a AAA game, sure they can polish it.
Just like Duke nukem forever, cod, gears, halo, uncharted, etc.
Other games like dark void, two worlds, mafia II, etc. Hardly had any changes with delays and polishing.
I remember watching mafia II at E3 last year and then playing the same demo when it released and no changes were made. An open city with nothing to do after the story.
As for a game like this... highly doubt you will see any changes.
looks like it'll be dumb fun but i don't think we'll find anything meaningful or thought provoking in this game, as the hotel trailer might have suggested.
Is that Tommy Wiseau narrating this?
Those animations/voices have to be placeholder, no way would a developer that can make that pretty a world make animations that are that ugly.I really hope the one liners can be turned off...or do not happen often.
I really hope the one liners can be turned off...or do not happen often.I liked the idea of the one liners conveying the emotional state of your character as he/she evolves and gets tougher, from a fragile soul to a hardened warrior. It could be cool if they can pull it off. They won't, though.

Thing is..when they showed her at first..then near the end in the city..she sounded no different at all.Well, that's obvious because it's simply a demo and they probably haven't implemented the system correctly yet. But the interviewer stated that the one liners given by the character at the beginning of the game, in the finished product, would display the character's fear and confusion while acquiring new skills and becoming more powerful would make these one liners convey confidence.
