By the title I mean, do you think its going to live up to the exceptions of mostly everyone? Don't get me wrong, i'm still kinda keen for this game, but the more and more gameplay I see, the more and more flaws it seems like it has. The kicking of the Asian lady looks weak, as in no force behind it. Just one of the little problems that seem to bug the hell outta me. I probably won't play as her, so hopefully the other characters feel better. I will at least wait for the review, but I've got a feeling of like a 7-7.5 from IGN and 3 stars from Giantbomb. Its just a guess, but I really hope I'm wrong and it gets higher.

This game was doomed to be disappointing as soon as they released that first trailer. 

The review's probably state something along the lines of, "zombies are overplayed right now", or something of that nature. Personally I couldn't be more excited for it, I've been waiting for a true first-person zombie sandbox game for...well, about as long as I've played games. It's about time we finally got one.

Techland has this thing where they make entirely mediocre games that get a cult following. So I expect this game to be mediocre since it will be hard for it to be worse than their most recent release.

This game is going to be a survival zombie oblivion, its gonna have similar jank, similar bethesda bugs, and it will be dam fine game.

Thsoe people are retarded as shit. There was nothing in that trailer to imply the game would be all deep and emotional - CG trailers are for announcement, nothing more.

I feel like everyone's already on a Left 4 Dead/Zombie overdose, I mean I know I am, and just because of that I think this game is not going to do as well as it should. I've heard a lot of "Another zombie game?" when bringing this up to friends, and because of so much zombie games right now, people will probably own one and not need another. I have seen Dead Island footage, and I think the game looks great, but it's because of past games I've played that are so much like it that will probably keep me from buying it.

I'm excited for it. I like Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, so I have hope.

I honestly think anyone who has bought into "the hype" is foolish anyway, considering the hype was basically one CG trailer that had little to do with the actual game. But if we're to say Dead Island has a whole bunch of hype (I'm not really seeing it), then no, I don't think it's going to live up to the hype. All of the footage of that game that I've seen has looked like a game that is a year or more away from release rather than a month.

I'm really looking forward to it. Just the simple prospect of an open-world cooperative zombie game is enough to get me excited. It seems to have a fair bit of jank, but I'm really digging the graphics and the gameplay looks like it could be fun - especially with friends.

Yes. The shooting is not going to feel as good as other FPSs, and the zombie survival stuff is going to end up being too shallow of an experience for people to play and enjoy for very long. It might hold peoples' interests for a while, but that game is not going to be very memorable.  Add to that the ridiculous amount of hype for this game and you have yourself a disappointment.

Games will always fall short of the hype for people, and will meet and sometimes exceed it for others. I was on the RIFT hype, and when it finally released I was enthralled. However, a friend of mine on the same wagon didn't like what he played even though it was a well made and polished game. 
 
It's all about whether or not your hyping something that exists in a game. Hyping a game into scenarios you create that you think will unfold is one sure-fire way to find it lacking. When you move into the area of understanding that a great game is one that is enjoyable and well made, then you will find that it happens more frequently that the hype was well worth it. 
 
This is one reason BF3 will fall from its hype, too many people are expecting things DICE has not confirmed, creating a false sense of hype that will not be lived up to and will make people sad, even though it was never intentional.

It'll be a 2/5 5/10 game.

I would give it a four out of five with about four versions of that trailer in the credits. And I'm done.

Something along these lines, yeah. I was baffled by the response to the first trailer so I was never on board with this game but I have doubts it will amount to anything remarkable whatsoever.

Having seen nothing about this game other then the trailer, that while pretty good is as representative of gameplay as the trailers for The Old Republic, I have no way of predicting if it will be good, however in my dream of dreams it’s what I actually want out of a zombie game, you gather survivors, make a base, brings back supplies to keep everyone alive and armed and then murder all the zombies. Basically I want Lord of the Flies, but with tourists and zombies instead of kids

So, yes. But I'm sure it won't actually be as bad as we fear it will be.

Yeah, what hype? I had not heard of it until this month, when I saw it on steam. Even then, I sort of dismissed it..

But now that I am reading more about it, I must say, I am interested in it. An open world game (a-la GTA or Just Cause) set on a tropical vacation island, hit by zombies, but with 4 player co-op and RPG elements !

It almost sounds like a combination of Just Cause, Borderlands, but with zombies.

I'll wait for the reviews, but I'm at least intrigued!

Yes it does. WAAAY short from the first trailer, pretty short from the second trailer, short from the first island/gameplay trailer.

Looks to turn up a bit average, but to be honest I'm really routing for it. Hope it turns out as great as its potential allows (which is pretty great)
