The co-op joining is completely atrocious. I cannot join my friends game who is on the exact same chapter with the exact same quest standing right next to. Anyone else having these issues? The "Blah blah is nearby want to join" just will not pop up.

Are you playing on PC? It sounds like the devs released the full retail version on steam a little while ago, so you might need to download it again plus the day 1 patch that fixes a bunch of stuff and might make you lose your save in the process.

If you're on console, try turning off your porn torrents or something ;) Or most likely, just wait for a patch. It's pretty normal in this day and age for the MP to be completely busted with new releases.

The online broke since the day 1 patch.  I have to play the game singleplayer or else Steam takes up an entire processor core and gobbles up memory until nothing works.  Last night I was able to join my roommate for a while until things kinda got outta control.    
 
The only way we got it to work is using the "send invites" button in the lower left of the lobby menu.  

AnyOne know how the online is on 360? Should I pick it up this week or wait for a definitive patch?

To add on to the questions: so is this a play now type of game or just wait till it drops to $30 or $40? Picking up the Uncharted Collection this week and wondering if I should be considering picking this up too.

I just played for about 3 hours with a couple friends on 360 with no issues. We joined together after the prologue and everything ran fine for us. I was surprised too because it barely lagged at all.

I've had zero issues with the co-op on PS3.  Just make sure the online options are set up for what you want...for me the default was LAN only, then when I changed to PSN it defaulted to Private games only.

Quick match and the game lobby are straight up busted. I can join people if they're "next" to me just fine though.

Xbox, though I just came from a sucessful quick match so maybe what I was experiencing isn't across the board. However, I noticed Brad had the same problem during the quicklook

Brad had it set to 3 private slots instead of public slots. You'd think it wouldn't matter when trying to join other people's games, but that was the problem for me. Once I set it to 3 public slots I had no problems. Maybe I've just been lucky though.

Nah, that's not it. If you look closely at the game lobby when he opens it up, everything is grayed out and he can't join any of the games. The private slots only apply to your lobby, not others'. I have been having trouble all day trying to get in to matches and I've got my options set to public; the only reliable way is by using the nearby player function. I really hope this gets fixed soon.
