This game is currently harder to find than a bag of Diamonds here in Edmonton. Went to Best Buy, Future Shop, London Drugs, Superstore, EB Games, HMV & Wal-Mart last night looking for this game and every single store was either sold out, or didn't order any copies in according to the guy at Superstore.
Surely this game hasn't sold better than everything else that's come out this year, I can only think that none of these retailers ordered any copies above and beyond any pre-orders they had, because I didn't even see space for this title on any of the shelves except for Future Shop, EB & Best Buy.

Sold out at every store here
I had the local Gamestop tell me 'No, you can't pre-order it anymore' last Friday. Amazon got me covered though.
I had the same problem last night here in Indianapolis. I went to The Exchange (a smaller chain of Gamestop-like stores), Best Buy, and Gamestop, all of which were entirely sold out on 360 with only like 2 copies for PS3 total across all the stores. I ended up finding two copies at an FYE inside a mall. When was the last time anyone ever shopped at an FYE? I honestly don't think I ever have, but they prove themselves more useful than Gamestop, which isn't really saying much.
My Gamestop store got around a hundred copies. By the time I closed last night we were down to around ten between the 360 and PS3. At least in my area the game is selling insanely well. I'm going to be interested to see if they ordered enough to resupply us or if it will end up like Deus Ex where the game is just impossible to find.
Seems like they only pushed out a small number of copies. Very strange. I picked mine up on Steam--so obviously no problems. Best of luck to you guys. I'm sure they'll amp up production when they realize that they've got a hit on their hands.
When I went to buy 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, it was sold out too. The place I went to get it from had only received 5 copies.
Sold out around Halifax, NS too.

I'm assuming Wal-Mart isn't even carrying it. I couldn't find it anywhere on their site earlier.I work in the electronics section at Wal-Mart and we just didn't get any copies for the 360.
I'm in Woodbridge Ontario and I've seen a bunch at stores like HMV and Future Shop.thats cause your in woodbridge!
Ontario typically gets a lot of copies of everything.
I never had any problems getting anything during the ten years I lived in Toronto.

Gamestop clerk: SHOULDA PREORDERED BRO
Funny but also true. The Bestbuy I work at probably received around 20 copies for 360 and ps3 and by the end of Tuesday we were out of 360 and had 1 left for ps3. We had no pre-orders and I was convinced it would be buried under everything else considering a lot of people that come in are the 'DUUUR this game is out?' 'Well yeah, you are holding it.' We've been selling 20 copies of Madden a day since it released so maybe we just have a lot of bros that visit.

Did the guy at the register give you any peculiar looks for getting that? I got one, so I just said that he doesn't appreciate my refined taste in games.
Yeah. He just looked at me like 'Wait, what?' for a second before going to check the supply room.@HandsomeDead said:

I'm in an extremely small town in SW Virginia and most of the copies are sold out here. Apparently, our local K-Mart sold out of all copies in less than three hours. Our Walmart has the PS3 version, which I'll probably get tomorrow if they still have them. I wanted it on 360, but I guess there's a reason I got both systems. Stores in my area rarely restock and I won't have an opportunity to go out of town looking for it for awhile. I would order it, but all I have at the moment is cash and I get sort of tired of ordering online (got burned recently).
Wow. I didn't expect this game to sell like that so quickly. I figured it'd be more niche.

Really? I seriously don't understand the whole zombie obsession...I didn't buy it because it was a ZOMBIE open world RPG, I bought it because it was a zombie OPEN WORLD RPG, if that makes any sense.
I agree with sentiment. I'm sick as hell of zombies, but I love me some open world first person action. The lack of releases of the latter caused me to overlook the overabundance of the former.

I bought it through Greenmangaming.com the day before it released for PC. They still haven't received more keys so we're waiting to get our game. :(
I bought it from them with less than 15 minutes left on the countdown clock and got a key instantly.

I kind of figured that too, but now that I think about it, I can understand why it might be selling quickly. Only hardcore gamers who keep up with game sites daily and look past promotional trailers would think that Dead Island is a niche game, but an average person may just see a zombie game and think "L4D", "Dead Rising," and "Call of Duty Zombie Mode." So pretty much it's an zombie co-op game to most people.
I had this same problem with Mortal Kombat a few months back. Sometimes stores just don't get in massive amounts for them, and instead get people to preorder so they can have a certain amount in the next batch, instead of ordering a few hundred copies, then selling about half...check the Game/HMV/Play sites, they seem to have plenty of copies. Or Amazon, as someone said before.
I was waiting for a price drop. Yesterday my place of employment was flooded so after watching the QL I went out on the Dead Island hunt. I came home empty handed. Hopefully this will be in stock again soon.
Yay! I found one yesterday during my lunch break. Target got four more copies in that morning, so just keep checking around.
My buddy went around to FIVE different stores before finding one single PS3 copy left at a Gamestop no one ever seems to shop at. Only people in there are the employees at any given time of day or night. We're in southern Jersey.
I drove around for over an hour looking through 4 stores, and then checking websites for bestbuy and gamestop, none of them had the damn thing in stock for 360 anyway
live in central Minnesota, near Buffalo, if that means anything to you.
Everyone is sold out in my area. I literally called every store with an electronics section and they all, without even having to check, immediately responded with a "No, we're sold out"
So the demand appears to be somewhat insane, even if there was also a limited quantity in the first place.
