Example, the tutorial level i was speced for using a shotgun and melee, but that mission was stealth and pistol. The pistol in that mission was so bad because of my lack of skillpoints that simply aiming at a guy and leaving the reticle on him for a full minute and yet pulling the trigger wouldn't kill him it would miss and i would be forced to take bullets and bull rush people because of my lack of stealth and pistol skill. I didn't say the game was unplayable without an FAQ, but if you wanted to not hate every combat sequence in that game then you would use a guide on where to put your money/skills. This is totally off topic of the thread though so i'm just gonna say we have a difference of opinion.

Back on topic, my Walmart has some pretty lazy employees, so they just stocked the shelves with some copies! I just got one and am currently waiting for it to finish installing.

@UnrealDP: That mission was what? You choose what weapons you take into a mission, you didn't put a shotgun in there? So very confused. I put all my points into assault rifle and put that in slot 1. Never used a single other weapon after the tutorial level.

I think this game should be awesome just for grabbing a bunch of friends and tearing up some fucking zombies. It doesn't take much of a story to get me excited, since I'm fairly horrible at keeping up with it, but this is a zombie game. That's pretty straight-forward! Also, Far Cry 2 is one of the best games ever, and so is Oblivion. People keep relating this game to those two very frequently, so let's just say I think I'll have a blast playing through this!

To be honest I never saw the trailer and am very burnout by zombie games , but after the reviews my interest sparkled ... granted I need more QL (more than reviews) and random dudes thoughts to persuade me into getting this , or might as well rent it ... yep seems more like a rental (which is what Dead rising 2 got)

Will props pick it up down the road when it drops a bit in price.

Then i did the airfield mission which resulted in me losing all bonuses because i didn't put any points into stealth and my shotgun couldn't be silenced. I then read a guide only to realize that if i wanted to enjoy the game without hating all the combat i had to put my points here instead of there, nut i see you had none of these problms because you lucked oout and picked a good build or just looked past all its short comings, so more power to you, but i have a strong dislike for that game.

I'm glad the game is getting decent-good reviews, but that doesn't make it a buy for me.  I have far too long of a list for a college student working a part time job of games I'm picking up this year.  I'll be saving up for the trifecta (Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Saints Row) in November along with Gears in a couple weeks and Batman in late October.

Having played Stalker before it got "good" and really enjoyed it, I can say that reviews of open world games from Eastern Europe don't mean jack fucking shit. I can see that most reviewers don't have my sensibilities when it comes to such games, so fuck em. I'll determine if this game is good or not after I play it.

Looks kinda arcadey from that video review. Certainly not a fan of the HUD elements like the points popup and crap. Seems like it would totally kill the immersion, which is the main thing the game has going for it.

Do I buy now or wait for more info on the PC aspects like modability and port quality?

yeah i just found that out after ordering the game. would have been nice for them to tell me unfront instead of at the end of the transaction. first and last time i use this serves.

Played about 3 hours last night, loved every second of it :)

People who hate on Alpha Protocol relentlessly probably didn't play Alpha Protocol. Also LOL at how mentioning it turned this thread into WHAT DEAD ISLAND IS LIKE ALPHA PROTOCOL WHAT THE SHIT.

This will be a 2012 buy for me. Steam sales baby.

It's already getting decent reviews without the patch. I can only wonder what scores it would have gotten if all those bugs were patched beforehand.

I think even with all the patching etc. this game will always be buggy.

This game is Awesome. Not the best but its deffinetly worth at least a 8/10. Most of these reviews were from the launch version which as everyone now knows was not the final release but rather the developers version with the unclip feature. People should not compare this with other games as it is not those games but rather its own. It has zombies, it has quests, it has free roam, it has leveling and skills, it has weapon modding, it has bosses. it has drivable vehicles. It is its own game which deserves its own review based on itself not what people thought it would be like or what other games were like before it. So far for 33.97$ off GmG.com it has been one of the better first day buys iv had even with the unclip feature added to it which let me explore a good portion of the island without actually having to run there. Besides the patch now that broke the ripper bonus it is still a fun game and the co-op is pretty fun as you dont have to be next to each other and can explore or do quests on your own to get through them faster.

Man I'm really enjoying this game. I like it a lot more than bored-erlands already. I'm fully expecting Jeff to shit all over it with his contrarian ways, and Vinny (and possibly Dave) to love it.

i predicted a 3/5 from Brad, but from the QL he seems to love it so maybe a 4/5. It depends on if he weights the technicall issues more over the fun he's been having
