What the hell? What does massive jiggly boob action have to do with a guy spanking a monkey?

#8 Posted by Computerplayer1 (991 posts) -

Spanky the monkey = masturbating
Choking the chicken = masturbating
DOA = FAP material for....apparently middle-aged men?

Like computerplayer1 said both these videos contain literal depictions of metaphors for masturbation. Honestly I thought the Tecmo marketing team would have come out with something better than "LOL, fap joke" and maybe also perhaps not tried to actively make such connections between Dead or Alive and sad-looking sofa masturbators but this seems to be the angle they're going for.

there video game is soft core porn, and they actually own up to it, unlike some other games...

I think the topic will be locked.

Like ComputerPlayer1 said, they are masturbation references.  I think they're saying that playing DOAP will not make you feel so alone.  Same thing with the "fighting the one-eyed man" trailer.  Playing DOAP=having a woman, according to Tecmo.  I agree with Gamer_152.  Dumb jokes.

its a reference to masturbation which is DOAs main seller point now...

Besides the obvious masturbation referance these adds are meant to be confusing but also unique and rememberable. In that way someone who has never heard of DOA will remember these ads, and much like those Go-Daddy commercials that has nothing to do with setting up internet adressess, they will find out more about the game. Once they find these games but begin to feel bad/lonely about getting a mildly pornographic game, they will remember the lighthearted ads and their self-referential humor about lonely masturbation and think to themselves - "It's really not that bad". It's like if I refered to a bad post by saying the poster was an idiot then ending with a smiley face to show that it's really not a big deal. Quite clever.

@Feser:  Another good point.  The more bizarre the commercial is, the more memorable the commercial and therefore the product will be.

This is probably one of the strangest game ads I've seen in a long time.
