Do you listen to music to play DR when you aren't necessarily playing the story or when you just want to fuck some zombies up? What do you listen to? Ever thought about the deeper level meaning of game soundtracks, esp since this game largely has no music?
What I'm saying is that I find DR strangely quiet when I play it for a while. So I play some music of my own and have totally found this to be a largely philosophical task rather than entertainment oriented.
For example, I typically listen to some mathcore when I want music for the game, but on occasion have gotten bored and tried something like Dashboard Confessional or the Counting Crows. I have had a couple observations:
1) No matter what I listen to I tend to orchestrate my actions to go with the music. So if the song has a break, I will often pause letting zombies close in and attack when the break ends. Or if the song is really fast or slow I tend to adjust my playing accordingly.
2) This particular game comes out as really messed to me when I listen to soft music. Like try going on a zombie spree during Mister Jones, totally screws with my head.
Just wondering if anyone else has gone through the 'must have background music' phase with DR and if they had similar observations about music choice.
