Four themed, stat-twisting downloadable clothing packs are coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Dead Rising 2 starting this October 12. But the vast majority won't be "new" to those who have pre-ordered the game. That's because these bits of DLC are the same pre-order bonuses that were once exclusive to places like Best Buy, GameStop, and GAME. Each pack will be priced at $1.99 (or 160 Microsoft Points).
Kicking things off on October 12 is the Psychopath Theme Pack, which like all the rest of the content, will offer a costume that gives the wearer special skills and perks based on that costume's theme. In this DLC, the costume is a laughable hockey mask plus meat surgeon's getup that grants hero Chuck Greene more damage resistance and also puts cleavers, chainsaws, axes, and "more" into his meager inventory slots. This one was included in the pricey High Stakes Edition of the game.
The Soldier of Fortune Theme Pack hits next on October 19. We're having a hard time locating where this specific pack came from (we've asked), but that's not as important as what it can do for you. Which is to say, the Rambo-esque costume will give you double ammo, better gun accuracy, more bullets, and a new side-arm firing attack for big guns like merc rifles and LMGs.
On October 26, Best Buy's Sports Theme Pack hits. This costume is a viking hat, cape, and jersey mixture that makes this DLC's special sports weapons' balls bounce more times after the initial throw. Also, with the clothing, Chuck will gain more health while eating and drinking.
The fun ends (for now) on November 2 with the release of GameStop's original bonus exclusive the Ninja Theme Pack. With full ninja garb on, you'll be grabbed a lot less by straggler zombies and get bonuses with the use of sword weapons. Also, Chuck's throwing speed is increased.
All of these packs' independent pieces can be worn with each other, meaning you can theoretically create a unique clothing set of extreme pain and statistical oddness if you own each pack. I'm not sure why you would do that if you've spent the time assembling the Ghouls and Goblins armor set for free (temporary invincibility is always a winner), but hey, knock yourself out.
