It's amazing what an extra save slot can do....
I remember picking up the original Dead Rising, starting it up, and feeling the sense of urgency that I believe Capcom wanted us to feel. Unfortunately, the sense of urgency, the timed missions, and 3 jerks driving a mounted turret jeep eventually got me to the point of wanting to chuck my controller at the TV. Then came Dead Rising Case 0, which peaked my curiosity in the series again, and brought me to buy Dead Rising 2, and let me say that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that I hated in the first game (I didn't hate the first game, I just hated certain aspects) was fixed, and made the 2nd so much more enjoyable. Lets being with the addition of 2 SAVE SLOTS! That's right! 2! Who would have thought that just adding 2 extra save slots could improve a game SO MUCH. Sure, it does bring that sense of urgency that the first game had down a bit, but I was OK with that, because though it had been dampened, I still did feel it. I went into this thinking the need to give Katie Zombrex would really make the game just feel like a chore, but it was more of an afterthought than anything. Secondly, the Survivor AI in this game has been vastly improved. Now, they actually defend themselves effectively, and when you call them to follow you, they don't charge a group of zombies looking for a fight (bite*....lame joke). Sure, the psychopath battles can be a bit annoying (how does a cook fit a bunch of cooking pans into his back pocket to throw at you as if they were ninja stars?) but bring a friend for some Co-Op, and that problem is solved. The Terror is Reality multiplayer is a blast, too. Thank you, Capcom...and never put 3 escape convicts in a jeep complete with a mounted turret again!
