Dead Space 2 is the sequel to the 2008 surprise hit Dead Space. The no-longer-silent Isaac Clarke finds himself trapped on a city-sized space station called the Sprawl, which has been overtaken by another Necromorph infestation.
Man I am kinda even more bummed that is looks so crappy. I would not have minded if it was just small and looked awesome. I am not going to display it, oh well in a few days I will have my game and be happy.

Dude, that really does suck! It's sad that you had to spend your money on this, but at least you were kind enough to let us know... I sure won't be buying the Collector's Edition now!

Yeah man, I straight up laughed my ass off when I saw the guys at gamestop bust those CE outs. And as soon as my buddy opened it to check out the cutter I laughed even harder. The postcard lithograph is also classic.

Balls. I pre-ordered the collectors edition for PS3 for $120 a few months back, shame it turned out the extras were turd. It's not released until Thursday in Australia so I just have tomorrow and waiting to get out of work Thursday before I can start playing it. No matter because if it is half as awesome as 1 I'll get all my moneys worth out of the campaign alone. And tomorrow being Australia Day there is going to be plenty on to do without worrying about playing video games.

Voted for understatement of the year. That's just really disappointing.
@jakob187: I truly empathize with you on the bum deal and plasma pecker. Just seeing you hold that thing makes me get a little mad and a lot sad.
Oh, and as an aside, I am pretty sure Necromorphs make liberal use of all the flesh they can get their claws on, so it might not be where it's supposed to be, but I am sure it's in there...somewhere. Even so, I doubt it could be shot off with that.
Did I think about that too much? I am pretty sure I did. *shudder*

Stop shouting. I like games too. That doesn't mean that I hang tacky posters and plastic figurines of them in my home.

T_T Burn in Hell, you miserable winch!!!
@Abyssfull: The Halo: Reach Limited Edition was goddamn great. Everything included in it was something to do with the history of Reach, and the diary was a great read. New Vegas had a great graphic novel with it. Hell, Fallout 3 had a fucking lunchbox! Hell, even the Dante's Inferno promo action figure for pre-orders was better...AND THAT'S A GAME MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY!
Here. Hopefully, the lulz you can provide will be a redeeming factor.
ALSO...NO CODE FOR DEAD SPACE IGNITION THAT I'VE FOUND YET!!!
Sorry for those following my blog. = / "
The Ignition code should have been on your receipt when you pre-ordered. If you're talking about Extraction, it was a PS3 exclusive.

Is that what it is? So you like games more than me because you have more plastic figurines than I do?

At least the soundtrack is on a CD, my AC: Brotherhood soundtrack is on some bullshit Bluray bonus disc that is only playable on the PS3, making the idea of listening to it elsewhere impossible without serious hacking or ghetto recording.
I got he CE and was disappointed that the cutter wasn't 1:1. They should have stated that it was 1:2 scale or just made a deal with Nerf to make it (they have a deal with Nerf too btw). It's not a deal breaker since the CD and all the crap the PS3 version gets (along with my retailer exclusive) makes the extra $20 worth it.

There have been many, many worse collector's editions that cost much, much more than Dead Space 2. For fans of the series and collectors this isn't a bad deal. If you were actually expecting a full-size replica then you should probably reevaluate your grip on reality.
Slightly disappointed, but my little brother will think I'm the bomb when I let him play with it.

I guess that Vesceral games changed their mind before shipping. it was originally 1:1 size as far as I know. well, what can we do? nothing. just get over it. I don't mind because it is not like you bring the gun, playing around just like teenagers?

Hell no. I work at a LAN center. I called Gamestop today, and they said that there was nothing they could do about it. Of course. It's Gamestop. Why would I have expected anything less from them? I mean, I already own the game anyways, but still...
Also, to everybody: I realize that it wasn't going to be a 1:1 scale model or anything. At the same time, I would've easily paid another $20 or so if they DID make a 1:1 scale version that was detailed. Hell, if they had at least made the alt-fire portion TURN SIDEWAYS LIKE THE PLASMA CUTTER DOES, I'd be satisfied even more.

Thx for putting this up, think that instead I'll just get the regular game & hunt down the soundtrack (if I recall I got the soundtrack for the first one through amazon so will check there for #2).

It actually is 1:1 scale. It just so happens that every character in the Dead Space series are little people. For real.
All collectors editions are typically exploitative and not close to being worth the extra money. That's because they're a business model, to make the $7 - $17 extra off people using $3 worth of extra paper, little plastic toys, a making of DVD, and a tin case instead of plastic.
The trick is in sentimentality, as in the old days the regular edition $40 PC games would sometimes be packaged with all sorts of collectable goodies plus huge strategy guide like manuals. And the notion that it's something truly limited and collector worthy, which is not a lie but not quite a truth.
I was able to get the gta4 set at target on clearance for $22.00
A marketing tactic like Game of the year editions is to make the game or franchise sound more important than it really is. Literally every show on tv has a commercial stating it's the most watched ____ show on tv!!!
And for those franchises that are true blockbusters, putting out $150.00 editions is indeed exploitation, but not so bad in my opinion, because at least in those cases the thing included is pretty sweet. And if there are people out there from better wealthier walks of life willing to pay more than others it would be foolish not to give them a reason to do so.
What I've found messed up about the huge premium editions is that they still aren't the total package. Case and point: Halo Reach. In order to have everything, you'd have to buy the game twice. Because the collectable Xbox Console with the game didn't come with the figurine set edition of the game. So you'd have to spend another $150 on top of $400 to get two copies of halo and all the collectables, and that's not counting the collectors edition of the strategy guide which runs like $30 - $40 and probably doesn't come anywhere close to telling you how to be good at halo as any free YouTube video or online FAQ would. They know there are geeks out there trying to become major video game collectors and put these things out because so many dudes will have Bo choice but to buy it lest they spoil the value of their future gamer museum or whatever.
Too long, didn't read: Just use steam. Because someday nearly all games will be download only and the small percent of trinket filled retail sets won't be worth a bother.
Let's face it: those who bought the collector's edition should have seen this coming, myself included. I swore off collector's editions a while ago, and being fooled into thinking that this one could actually be cool reminds me why I did. All of the crap bundled into these collector's editions always seems cool but never is.
I cannot even begin to explain my disappointment in this collector's edition. EA and Visceral really dropped the ball on this one. I was so excited about the plasma cutter replica that I went out and pre-ordered the collector's edition the day it was announced and now I am seriously regretting that extra $20. They couldn't even bother to give you two AAA for the damn gun! edit: I am surprised at the lack of Plasma CUTEr comments. Please don't hit me.

Weird thought you did.
The part in bold would happen with ANY retailer who did not give you the code, stop bitching about Gamestop.

To think at one point I really wanted this collector's edition and was willing to pay $80. So glad that I am a cheap bastard to convince myself not to buy this. Very disappointed that that is all the collector's edition had to offer.
