Only a handful of third-party titles can claim to be a commercial success on the Wii. Even fewer are given a second chance to become one on different platforms--and well after initial release, to boot. That's the rub that keeps me from believing EA Visceral'sDead Space Extraction will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3, but rumor suggests otherwise. And while persistence plus "no comment" doesn't equal validation, the most recent evidence to this game's existence on both platforms certainly lends credence to the whispers.

As Kotaku reports (via NeoGAF), a rendering engineer has recently listed Dead Space Extraction XBLA and PSN as a title he's working on. The engineer's profile is barebones (and now gone), divulging little more than the fact that it Dead Space Extraction will be a "port," and his work on it started in February 2010 up at EA Montreal, the creators of brodacious titles like Army of Two.

The Dead Space Extraction rumors first kicked off as a result of a survey in which EA billed the possible port as an "interactive horror experience" in HD. It suggested the game could carry a $15 price tag and could be some sort of pre-order bonus for confident Dead Space 2 purchasers.

The current speculation is that the Extraction port may support Project Natal and the PS Move. In a conversation with G4, which probably helped fan the flames, Dead Space executive producer Steve Papoutsis commented that the idea of a Natal or Move-support Extraction "sounds pretty cool." He added, "That's all you can really say about that."

I'm wondering what you have to say about this. Would you buy Extraction if it were ever available on XBLA or PSN? What if it supported Natal? Would you buy it if there was a cheat code that turned all the Necromorphs into dancing bears? Lord knows I would.

if it supported natal in a meaningful way that would be enough for me (swaying with your body , simulating cutting off your own hand, also that would be the first game with finger-guns if it did natal)

If it supported Natal or Move, then fine. But without any kind of light gun equivalent, Extraction would be absolute trash.

Basically this, I don't know how I would use natal for that game but I would pick the PS3 version over 360 if it used Move.

Yes, please. And thank you. Loved Dead Space, didn't wanna play Extraction on the Wii.
Hopefully, since they're not proven, Natal and Move support won't be required.

This on Natal sounds like one of the best things ever (ok, I'm exaggerating). On the other hand, this on gamepad sounds like a clunky, stripped Wii port.

This seems fine as long as they don't try and sell it as a full price retail game.

I'm really glad to hear about this, I love Dead Space but don't really like the Wii.
