An open-world action-adventure game following an eccentric FBI agent as he investigates a series of bizarre murders in the small rural town of Greenvale.
Honestly, I think a game of that level of quality has gotten way more attention than it really deserves, thanks more or less entirely to the Endurance Run. The story is damned good, but every other part of the game is terrible, and it's very rare that anyone in the gaming community gives a crap about a game that isn't fun to actually play.
On the other hand, I do like the idea that with all the attention the game has gotten, that SWERY will be able to make a sequel whose gameplay lives up to its storyline.
Deadly Premonition is to video games as Pop Tarts is to fruit. No I won't elaborate. also a Haiku: SWERY made a game Infinite machine gun,but Killer is in the cup.
I would like to see it gain more popularity because it forces people to realize that not every gamer has the same taste or criteria when it comes to judging things like gameplay/graphics (for example, survival horror fans seem to have far less trouble with the controls than everyone else out there). There should be a lot more variety in games in general and DP is so far removed from most people's standards of what a "good game" is that I was actually surprised to see as many people embrace it as they did. More variety in games = more variety in gamers. It can only enrich the community, so I say bring it on, SWERY. I would take DP over a AAA game any day of the week.
Also, as someone who hangs out in a lot of other DP threads elsewhere and who personally heard about DP from the Top Down Perspective podcast, the claim that the ERs were solely responsible for DP's success is pretty hilarious. Not to say that they weren't a major factor... But the only reason for its popularity? Uh-huh.
