Anyone else think it's crazy how differently these two games are turning out already?

    Brad and Ryan

    • Takes more damage
    • Better handle on controls
    • More efficient at advancing the story
    • Do a lot more races
    • Appreciate the soundtrack a lot more
    • Have funnier Mr. Smith jokes (in my opinion)
    • Actually go fishing
    • Have a tendency to completely miss everything that happens in a cutscene (or at least pretend they did)
    • Hoards Turkey Sandwiches
    • Reloads right in front of enemies/Forgets to reload
    • Had a tough time with the ceiling crawlers, but gets through them faster
    • Found the radio
    • First to give up on scraggly York and shave

    Vinny and Jeff
    • Take more time to joke about the characters and make funny voices
    • Tend to play in shorter bursts
    • Show the recap at the start of almost every episode (although they have been skipping it a bit)
    • Explore more, resulting in peeping on Thomas, their phat new ride, and their infinite ammo submachine gun
    • Make raunchier jokes about Emily, Diane, etc.
    • Figured out how to fast open doors first
    • Always crashes car
    • Hoards everything else
    • Eat lunch with Thomas (they love his biscuits)
    • Never died to ceiling crawlers, but fights take FOREVER

Even crazier are when they make the same comments or harp on the same things, like the music levels, shaving, or jokes about Mr. Smith. They even both fail/die at the exact same time, mostly when the raincoat guy appears.

Add in tendencies that you've noticed too and we can make this list more complete.

EDIT: Been changing it up and adding in more stuff.

Brad has a better handle on the controls I'd say, it's just that he doesn't seem to realize when he should move away from the zombies. He also didn't even bust out the 10mm until fairly recently. He drives better, and he also knows that down and the X button is the quick turnaround command. Vinny on the other hand is constantly crashing into stuff in cars, hasn't done a quick turn since the beginning of the ER, frequently ducks when he meant to pull out the gun, etc. And VJ's videos are definitely far longer than BR's.. the typical BR video is usually 20-some minutes whereas VJ's have been clocking in around the 40-minute mark.

e: Oh, and let's not forget that Brad figured out strafing by now. I don't think Vinny has.
e2: Vinny does know how to strafe, nevermind.

This. A day without Ryan singing to the racing track or giving the name of every tune in the game is a lost day.

I unfortunately gave up on BR Run due to too much time watching both. And I prefer Vinny and Jeff for humor. No offense to Brad, but he lacks in that department as he is often too focused when playing a game.

@Subject2Change: Ryan does end up cracking most of the jokes, but Brad does get a good zinger in here or there. Part of the humor, for me, comes from the stress in watching him get zombie hands stuck down his throat.

Maybe you can come back and watch the BR run once the VJ one finishes and you have less to do.

I've been watching both and I'm hard-pressed to pick a favorite.

Brad and Ryan are a great due as Ryan seems to lose his patience with Brad's unique (read: kinda sloppy) play style, while Brad's thinly veiled disdain for the game as a whole is just plain hilarious.

On the other hand, Vinny and Jeff are taking the "let's try to actually have fun with this mess" approach, basically adding entertainment value of their own by messing around and not taking it seriously in the least.   Laughs o' plenty.

Brad has yet to realize that barrels are explosive, right? I'm fairly certain he inadvertently shot one in the first episode, but I ain't seen it happen since; let's keep in mind, the exploding barrel is perhaps the most prevalent cliché in all of video game history.

I also find it remarkable how, virtually every time an NPC's name is mentioned, Ryan may ask, "Who's _____ again?" and then, after a moment's hesitation, Brad will invariably say, "I don't know." Either that, or Brad will ask, "Why are we talking to _____?" to which Ryan will typically respond in kind. Considering how Brad stays relatively quiet during the cut scenes, you'd think he was paying a bit more attention, but apparently not.

Often, I'm not too blown away with Brad's concept of tactical positioning during combat, although he seems to have gotten a bit better about this recently. Also, he's been overly conservative with York's resources, to their mutual detriment (e.g. his reluctance to eat the damn sandwich despite nearly dying of starvation). This can only detract from the fun of the game, because York has plenty of cash for snacks & supplies!

I think you're getting this backwards. Brian's videos have been consistently 30-40 minutes each day, while Jenny's were 20 minutes or so for a while (they have begun catching up lately though).

I'm sorry, but nothing will ever beat the "Show me your biscuit" quote in the 12th VJ episode.

Also, from what I've seen from both ERs, Brad is a better shot, but Vinny is amazing when it comes to hording resources.  This behavior probably lead to his discovery of the infinite machine gun.  However, Vinny has become more reckless since this discovery.

I will say this about BR, though: only having watched their 1st and 17th episodes, I can already tell they use some quick thinking when fighting zombies.  I highly doubt, for example, VJ will ever use the stabilizer in their ER.

It's not really quick thinking. It's more like overthinking. The stabilizer is unnecessary and pretty much useless in the game. The crawling zombies aren't that hard to kill but they're going at it entirely wrong.

Vinny can reasonably competently play video games.  Pretty key bullet point for me.  Though at least Brad is getting a little better now.

Vinny and Jeff are both more fun and funnier, both in consistency and in magnitude. Though I don't mean to imply Brad and Ryan aren't entertaining, they are.

I'm pretty sure it was the first, maybe second episode. They caught one item and Ryan declared "WE ARE NEVER FISHING AGAIN" , if I remember correctly. There's a precedent for that, in the original ER, people pissed and moaned at VJ for not EVER fishing.

Nah, I think that it'd be more interesting if BR never found the infinite SMG and faster car, while VJ never found the radio. I'm curious as to what the pacing will be like now. Both teams are pretty much neck-and-neck at the moment, with VJ only needing to return to the hotel to be at the same point where BR left off.

Anyway, I'd hafta say that - as has been mentioned before - VJ was much better at combat than BR...until VJ found the infinite SMG. They're just a complete mess right now, although I'd still say that I prefer the VJ run for its increased humor, as well as the fact that VJ understands the concept of reloading responsibly. I find myself yelling at the screen more during the BR run. I wouldn't mind if they weren't making the same mistakes over and over and over again, but they are.

At least we can count on Vinny to not shave York's beard.  He seems to have real love for it, not like Ryan's shamefully fleeting attachment to it, and I don't think Jeff's jealousy of York's facial fertility will ever be enough to dissuade Vinny.

I have prefered the BR endurance run for a while. I feel as thought they play closer to how I would and I find them funnier. VJ makes tons of jokes but they are the obvious jokes.
