    Overview

Deathmatch is a standard mode of play found in games with competitive multiplayer options. In its most basic form, the mode consists of two or more players fighting and attempting to reduce each other's heath to zero. When a player character dies, the player that scored the kill earns points, and the killed player then respawns elsewhere on the map to continue play. Deathmatch modes typically end after either a specific amount of time has elapsed or one player crosses the score threshold required for victory.

A variant of this is the team deathmatch, where it involves two or more teams rather than individuals fighting for themselves.
