This year I bought a 1981 Delorean DMC-12. I've always loved this car and owning / driving one is everything I thought it would be. The design of this car is so unique, even though it's nearly 30 years old it still feels like you are driving something from the future. The car is not fast but has decent get up and go, I ended up buying a 5 speed for this reason. Still, with this car it isn't about the speed, it's the driving that's just fun, many say it's a gentlemens sports car and I would agree with that statement. The reactions to the car have been very positive, people really seems to love this car and it's great talking to people about the history of the vehicle and DMC. A lot of people believe that parts are extremely hard to find but that's not really the case, even though only 9,000 were made (5k-6k left) there were parts made for well over 30,000 cars before the company went out of business.
Here's a picture of mine below.
DeLorean DMC-12
The DeLorean DMC-12 is best known as the car Doc Brown turns into a time machine in the Back to the Future franchise. The DMC-12's most noticeable feature is its totally radical gullwing doors.
My Delorean DMC-12
I watched a documentary once abotu the history of the delorean. It's such an oddity. Have you ever heard the Neon neon album? Apparently it's about the maker.
Still looks great.
Wow, you got a real Delorean? That's pretty sweet. When I was little I used to think it was a prop car they only made for Back to the Future. I've never actually seen one out and about in the real world, but I guess they're not exactly on every street corner. I always liked the way the doors pop up like wings.
What's the trunk like? What kind of space does it have in the back of the car?
I cleaned one of those at my old job. They have the most ridiculous dash-boards. In a good way.

No... I just have a lot of stuff... I want to move around... with a motor vehicle. Possibly through time.
" That's awesome, I've seen one parked in my neighbourhood, and always wanted them. I thought there was more surviving though. How much does one in good condition go for? "That's one of the most asked questions I get about the car, according to Delorean Motor Company (of Texas, they bought the left over inventory and the rights to the name) it costs about $25k to have a good daily driving Delorean. I found mine for a bit less then that but I'll probably get up to that amount after restoring it. There's said to be about 5,000-6,000 Deloreans left, out of that amount its not sure how many are still drivable. Luckily parts are fairly easy to find, after DMC went out of business the left over parts were sold to a company in Texas (now DMC today) and some improved parts can be found as well. A lot of the Delorean's you find for sale have rather low miles on it but that doesn't mean the car is in great condition. Mine has about 20k miles on it but since it sat for so long parts will need to replaced over time as I'm driving it now. Overall its a very fun car to drive, not fast like I said but just a pleasure to take out for a cruise.

There's a lever you pull on the drivers side under the steering column to pop the trunk, within the trunk itself is a board with carpet covering it, under that is your spare tire. I could probably fit two sets of golf clubs in there if need be.
Fuck... that is just too cool for school.
Couple of questions:
1) Can it go 88 mph?
2) Will you install a Flux Capacitor and Mr. Fusion?
3) Will you rename your dog Einstein? If you do not have a dog, will you buy one and name him Einstein?
4) If you drive straight into the drive-in movie theater, won't you hit those Indians?
At this comic book store just down the street from me, they were totally selling a flux capacitor. I didn't buy it. Biggest mistake of my life." Fuck... that is just too cool for school.
