First Game Class?
" Royal royal is the only way to go, much like soldier is the only way to play in borderlands "Soldiers suck !

I picked a soldier because they are well balanced skill point wise. If you want to be a magic user or a melee fighter you should inspect the classes before you start and see what class fits your playstyle. Every class can learn all skill some just start out with higher skill points in some parts
Royal, you start with a ring the regens mp and you have the lowest starting soul level, which is a plus. Having an MP regenerating ring allows the Royal to liberally use Soul Arrow, which will one or two shot most enemies early on. Having the lowest Soul level means it is initially cheaper to raise your stats then it is for other classes, this gives you more flexibility when choosing how you want to build your character. The only downside to the Royal is that the low starting health and weak armor can make the class unforgiving if you are not familiar with Demon's Souls combat.
Well, I went with the knight class since it was the most rounded, and just beat the first boss :D
But how do you raise your stats?
Edit: Oh and where should I go next?

You'll be able to now, the Maiden in Black will able to increase your ''soul level'' via your stats once you finish the tutorial after meeting the Monumental in the Nexus.

"Exactly what MMkain said... the royal was my second starter after the barbarian and it seemed immensely easier with the early use of Soul Arrow that was powerful and mana efficient along with that Cling Ring which regens mana albeit slowly.
Royal is the best magic user character, it starts with great equipment too. Soldier is a well balanced all around guy, so is the Hunter. I've found the Thief to be way too weak for begginers, Knights are way too heavy, dodging fast is a precious skill in Demon's Souls.
I'm still on my first play through, put in about 15 hours worth of game time so far. Went with a thief, though now I've devoted some points to his magic skills, and I've also been upgrading his strength. He was frustratingly weak at the start, but now I think I've sorted that out. Still need better shields though, I'm still not strong enough to carry the better ones.
