    While I'm definitely not a fan of the game, I think it's a solid, good choice.  Nice to see a lesser-known game take the title, and it's always good to see some RPG loving.

    I'm surprised GameSpot chose Demon's Souls given the size of their staff and how divided people were on that game. Not that I disagree though, it was fantastic.

    That is actually awesome. So glad it won over Uncharted. Gamespot just got a lot more respect in my books.
     
    Demon's Souls was definitely the best RPG last year, hands down.

    Demon's Souls was made Gamespot's Best PS3 Game. 
    Assassin's Creed II was made Gamespot's Best Xbox 360 Game. 
    Both Demon's Souls and Assassin's Creed II were in the Best PS3 Game category. 
    Therefore, it seems, Demon's Souls will be Gamespot's 2009 Game Of The Year.

    Well, most of the hate was based on the difficulty of the game, and as far as critical reception, it's been praised highly.  The Giant Bomb staff are the only people I've heard ragging on the game.

    I've been thinking about this, and I think it comes down to if you favor gameplay mechanics or story in a RPG.  Demon's Souls doesn't really have a story at all, it's all gameplay.  Demon's Souls doesn't have female nudity, which significantly hurts the market perception.

    The lust demons have bare breasts, from what I recall, but that's the closest the game gets.

    I should say the non-graphic sex and nudity.  They're selling points, along with the gore.  Although Demon's Souls and Dragon Age are about on par in terms of gore.

    The only giant bomber who was ragging was Jeff and he browbeat his underlings who obviously disagreed.  They didn't have the balls to tell him that he was full of shit (at least from their perspective).
