Demon's Souls is an action-RPG developed by From Software and released in 2009. It quickly became popular within hardcore circles for its relentlessly steep difficulty level, deep combat system, and unique multiplayer integration.
wow im screwed
" @Mordukai said:That was an easy set up but I still laughed out loud on that one." @MrT: What's your class Mr. T? "Night Elf Mohawk. "
Soul Ray is pretty good. If you ask me, you should probably start over. This is only your first playthrough.
Fire Spray is hardly a loss. Soul Ray on the other hurts a bit if you're going magician, but soul arrow / flame toss is still good enough as a supplement. You're far from screwed. Actually, you might want to consider using a crescent type weapon to take advantage of your Magic stat.

" @MrT: No, Crescent specifically as a prefix for the weapons. Some weapons in the game derive their attack specific stats. Crescent weapons are based on your int, instead of dex, str, etc. There is another type (moon, iirc?) that is based on both int and str, though leaning more heavily on the former. You should find a +2 Crescent Scimitar in the beginning area of 4-1. "i got quality one plus 2
Soul Ray was a loss, but it's hardly game breaking, and NEVER consume the bosses souls before learning what upgrades they can do. Like in life, in Demon's Souls you learn your lessons the hard way. :)
If you are a magician, create a moon weapon with Moonlight stone, it will add magic damage to it, buffed by your magic stats.
I skipped Soul Ray. Soul Arrow worked pretty well for most of my first (and so far only) playthrough, but I was playing a character with a focus on melee and only using magic to cheese/kill stuff that was resisting the heck out of my physical attacks. So given that you're running mostly magic and will be pumping lots of points into the magic stat, I'd say you'll probably make it since your Soul Arrow will likely be doing more damage than I'd be with Soul Ray.
If you start over though, you'll find that you blaze through the game now that you know what to do, and you could start as Royal instead, which is a much better choice than Magician (though none of the classes matter a whole lot long-term, you'll start with some nice equipment).
@MrT:
If you can manage to find some Darmoonstone, forge your favorite weapon with that. Your Quality Scimitar +2 won't do much because it takes attack power from your DEX and STR attributes, and the level is only at C for both. Even a +1 Crescent Weapon (Obtained by forging with Darkmoonstone) will give your weapons an A-ranked Magic Modifier, which is the second best rank next to S. IF you magic is really high and the weapon you choose is good, then you will do some nice damage with it. Also, Crescent weapons recover mana over time so it's another bonus.
Don't quit the game and start over, once you get through this rut you will be feeling so great about it. Trust me. I'm on NG++++ (I might have lost count :P) and I still have Intelligence, Magic and Faith at 10. That's because I put pretty much everything I got into Dexterity, Endurance and Vitality. I couldn't kill the False King because he would kill me in one hit and I thought I was screwed, kinda like you're thinking right now - but then I found out about Bladestones. I searched and searched and grinded and made a Sharp Kilij +5 and when I used it with some Sticky White Stuff, it absolutely destroyed him.
Go! Search for those Darkmoonstones! Here are their locations:
Shard - 4-2 Reapers, the 4-2 Graverobber Blige sells them for 3000 souls, and the 4-1 Crystal Geckos drop them.
Chunk - 4-2 Reapers, 4-2 BP that's there when you fall from Patches, and Crystal Geckos from 4-2 and 4-3
Pure - 4-2 and 4-3 Crystal geckos.
Granted there is an intermediate SL range in DS where a term like "mage" makes sense.
As early game as the OP seems to be it carries little meaning.
So:
Make a dragon weapon.
Or use the Demonbrandt.
And get a bow.
And you'll do fine.
Without having to pump non "mage" specs.
Is what I was trying to say.
