Anyone know if this game has a Game+ feature?

    It doesn't.

Ah, that's a huge bummer. I tend to get a lot more value out of games that have one. Yes, it might upset the balance of the game, but I like feeling super powerfull on a second run-through of a game.

I'm sure if you buy it for the pc, there will be a crack/mod/config file out there that will allow you on your second playthrough to get as many upgrades as you want.

so what's the over/under on GB's review of this game?  I hope Jeff reviews it - I kinda want to hear the old Jeff "What Game were YOU Playing?" speech again.

I can't get to it at the moment, but Jeff posted something on his Google+ this morning to the effect of: "It's always nice to see a game improve over a shaky preview". I assumed he was talking about Deus Ex. Again, I'm paraphrasing, but it was something along those lines.

EDIT: Grabbed the actual quote: "It's always nice when a game that gave off a pretty negative vibe during the preview phase turns out to be better than it first appeared. Or, in the words of a great strategist, I love it when a plan comes together."

I find it weird that IGN said their copy of the PC version was an unfinished one whilst Ars said that the PC version was great.

Either way I'm so damn excited for this game now, expecially after hearing how awesome the story is.

IGN have said that the PC version hasn't been reviewed because it did not met the expected standards. That doesn't sound good at all to me.

Was actually going to pick this up after reading some of the reviews but was only going to get the PC version and if it's a awful port job then I'll pass.

    Here's the article. http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/118/1189621p1.html

You misunderstand. The review code they got wasn't very good. They are waiting for the actual PC release to review it properly.

PC gamer did give it that score, but that was the US version; PC Gamer UK has a different reviewing staff that I think is less lenient in terms of review scores.

I think this is just one of those great games that come out, but I don't see it as a critics choice award. I mean, I can see it nominated on some times (that matter), but not for winning, no matter how much I were to want it to win (though that's not necessarily the case just yet). I knew exactly what IGN and GameSpot would give the game, just from the look of it.

Sigh, hearing some things about this game make me think that it's the game Mass Effect 2 should have been. Yes I know, two very different games, but it's what sprang to mind after watching the GameSpot review). Anyway, this game seems to shine in the same areas as the original Mass Effect did - A deep, complex and interesting RPG (that involves shooting where it's appropriate). I'll definitely try to pick this up at some point.

@BeachThunder: I think it could go either way, but I think Deus Ex is shaping up to be more of an action game with RPG elements than an RPG with shooter elements. Could just be my personal view on what I've seen so far, but that's definitely the feeling I've gotten.

Also: Mass Effect 2 was still awesome, even if it was different.

Don't know about that really. One reviewer was annoyed at how the game always seemed to steer you towards sneaking and stealth, and then suddenly throw a boss fight in your face that forced you to use brute force. I definatly think it focuses more on the RPG elements than Mass Effect 2, for example.

    - Disappointing story; dismal voice-overs; dull conversation system.

    Dull conversation system, eh what?

What exactly is this reviewers point of reference?

The conversation system in Human Revolution is more interesting and mechanically deeper then any of it's contemporaries like ME or AP or pretty much any game of the same type.

This seems like straight up false information.

@Tennmuerti: Having played a bit of it, I could see how some people could see it as shallow. I replayed the first mission for youtube and chose different speech options the second time through. At least in the segment I played, the choices didn't really change the outcome all that much. I don't really mind it though, as the core of the game seems amazing so far.

The speech choices are dynamic the responses of characters sometimes change if you reload. Just because you choose different options does not instantly bring about a different outcome.

And if you are talking about the hostage situations there are a lot of outcomes depending on how you handle it.

Thirdly a whole new system opens up when you get the necessary augmentation.

Stuff I read on VanOrd's review stated that the people
in the game don't behave properly.  Like hacking their
computers right in front of them. LOL!  However, I did
read that this was the same as the original.

If you ask me, the Stealth game reminds me quite heavily
of Alpha Protocol.  Their AI didn't seem to act properly either.

However, from what I've seen & read on the reviews, even
with Gamespot's 85%, I'm still heavily enthused about this
game.  I'm on the home stretch of getting my Insanity Mode
achievement on Mass Effect 2 this weekend though, so I
might have to wait a little before I can jump in.

I eagerly await the JG review.  I don't think he'll crap on it
    too much. lol.

For sure. I think some money was being flung around, that or mass delusions. Not sure. 7 or 8 out of 10 feels more accurate.

I love how all these publications said the PC version was the way to go. Uhh, nope. It's a terribly shitty port. It works way better when using an Xbox 360 controller versus keyboard/mouse, and has massive stuttering issues even with a behemoth of a machine. It's been shown to use only 187mb of VRAM and 587mb of system memory. That's about as taxing as Minesweeper. Someone dropped the ball big time here. This is now time number two I've been dicked in the ass by a halfassed Deus Ex PC port.

@Duke_of_IRL: The sad thing is some people on this board apparently think if you don't agree with 10/10 you think the game is complete trash...its not, but I agree with you.

Graphically, this guy really doesn't shine in most areas. Inside areas look OK...your character model and the main baddies look great but general populace does not. Also, most environmental detail looks terrible. You could tell the lead SKU was designed for the consoles.

I agree with almost most of the statements about this game. Loads, VO and cut scene transition are all a bit iffy, but I'm really liking the story, setting and how it plays. I also think the shooting is satisfying, which quite alot of sources seem to be saying is no good.

I think it's a fantastic game, but it isn't without flaw.

The shooting mechanics do feel weird. I mean, the game basically reverses the responsibilities of the two analog sticks from the FPS standard (zooming with the stick you'd normally duck with, and vice versa). And anytime your stealth tactics break down into an all-out gunfight you can pretty much rest assured you're going to have to suffer through a tedious post-death loadscreen.

The dialogue stuff is nice, but it seems a little underutilized. And the boss battles are so disparate from the core idea of the other ninety percent of the game game that they feel as though they've been abstracted from some other project all together.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the running for Game of the Year for a lot of these publications, but I would be surprised to see it win.
