So who's going for the "Pacifist" achievement?!

I know I'm gonna give it a shot!

I'll give it a shot, but it seems like its going to be nearly impossible.

Not much surprise in this achievement list. Really looking forward to this one!

That pacifist achievement sounds ridiculous. How would you even accomplish that? Sneaking? Or do you have some sort of like sentry drones that you can use that don't count?

sorely tempting... I am enough of a masochist to at least attempt that.

I'm excited that achievements exist for not killing anyone (apart from bosses) and not setting off any alarms.

That means it must be possible, therefore, there must always be a peaceful option. RAD STUFF.

Not really.
Playing through the leaked build, it's actually a very viable way to go.
I would even say that's the preferred way to go.

You have several weapons that only disable enemies, a short range stun gun and a long range but slow acting dart rifle for starters.
Plus there are non lethat melee takedowns.

@Tennmuerti: That's good to hear then! Definitely gonna go this route through the game then.

Surprised at the incredulous responses to the total stealth, pacifist achievements. Seemed to me in the first and third Splinter Cells as well as with most of the Metal Gear games that this was very possible. I've even managed to do this with the leaked beta (which convinced me to preorder it).

@weeman105: maybe cloak ability will be ridiculously powerful 100 times than crysis 2. that's why it is in an achievement list as I guess. I think that it's possible.

Cloak lasts like 2 seconds.

Good news is that cloak is not required for staying undetected.

Was already planning on it but looks like its a stealth playthrough for me

Them achievements look great! No arbitrary bullshit, just more incentives to do multiple playthroughs and use a different approach each time.

#19 Posted by jillsandwich (762 posts) -

I fucking knew there was going to be an achievement for not killing anyone. I was trying to find a achievement list for this game yesterday so I could find out for sure.

#20 Posted by Yanngc33 (4496 posts) -

Oh boy that foxiest of the hounds one is going to drive me MAD

#21 Posted by TwilitEnd656 (617 posts) -

The pacifist achievement will be easy enough... But not setting off any alarms may be a bit tricky.

I am stoked for pacifism achievement.  To you guys asking about it, some people take pride in that kind of thing.  See here:

And this article may have been written by a giant bomb forum member:

I'm pleased that developers are rewarding a wide variety of roleplayers.  It is called a roleplaying game...it is always gratifying to be able to, you know, play a role other than "run here, shoot that."

Yeeeeeeees.
Although they missed out on a bunch of references to the original. No augmented vision, A BOMB, speeled dreenks, lemon lime or anything.
Ah well, maybe those are in the secrets.

There is an insane amount of story/setting ties to the original. Brands and important names can be noticed right in the intro. And diligent players will quickly recognize important characters.

As for more abstract referential material:

  • the first hack during a mission has the code 0451
  • you get told on for visiting a ladies bathroom

Oh, I know the main plot ties in very much to the original. I was talking about some more off-the-wall references.
Good stuff there. I also hear that some of the guards whistle the original theme.

I see what they did there.

Arthur Gies said on Twitter that he knows he killed no one and didn't get the achievement.

Well I'm guessing you can still "knock them unconscious" so it's possible.

Oh god damn it that is too good. I'm going to have to go out of my way to get that achievement now.
#30 Posted by Gashlycrumb (49 posts) -

now that is a great list of cheevos.  story driven ones, upgrade ones, and it encourages multiple play throughs.  not that you'll really need it with this game i imagine.  and they each have a decent score too.

#31 Posted by RIDEBIRD (1233 posts) -

@DonutFever: He also added that someone else got it by not killing bosses, so it's apparently bugged.

SO BOSSES DO COUNT DUDES, DO NOT KILL THEM.

Well the first boss kills himself no matter what you do....

He might have killed someone he thought was a boss but wasn't.  Like Sanders maybe?  I love the foxiest achievement, just goes to show my hypothesis was right, they pretty much aimed this game to be metal gear solid gameplay smacked together with deus ex RPG/character customization elements.

Second playthrough because my first instinct is always the lethal approach.
List looks good I guess nothing to hard besides Foxhound and Pacifist.

I think I'll go for it. It'll probably be a long, drawn out bitch of endless saves and retries, but I'll do it.

Looks like a good list.  I wonder what the secret 25 are.  In any case I'll save actively trying achievements for my 2nd run through.
