Human Revolution is the third game in the Deus Ex series, a prequel where players take control of augmented security officer Adam Jensen, and investigate attacks against Sarif Industries, a leader in augmentation technology.
For me, Deus Ex would be a better game if it was played entirly in the 3rd person. The transition between 1st and 3rd person isn't done especially well in my opinion, and the brilliant character design of Adam Jensen becomes less relevant when you don't see him while playing. Still, it's a fantastic game, and I guess I just like to nitpick.
I really like it the way it is. Being able to see Adam's whole body while in cover is incredibly useful. I only wish it still had the leanin to the right or left option the original Deus Ex had. I seldom use it in other games, but I couldn't live without it in Deus Ex.
Man if this game was 3rd person only, people would be PISSED ! :p
I voted "prefer it this way". It's more immersive to roam the city in first person, and it's more awesome to see your character when he jumps off a fucking roof !
The way it's handled right now is awesome, I think. The transition isn't jarring as you're playing since you know what you're doing, and it gives you a chance to see Jensen, who looks cool as all hell. The first person is good because it's immersive and makes it easier to interact with the environment.
It would be cool, however, if there was a choice to toggle permanent first- or third-person, if you prefer one over the other.
Well, definitely not 3rd person only. It wouldn't really be a Deus Ex game then. But i do like the cover system, and i think cover systems work best in general with 3rd person view, so i think it's just fine where it's at right now.
Permanent first person wouldn't work. It would break the stealth/cover elements of the game. Having it all in 3rd person would work, but then I think the game would lose it's level of emersion. I think it's just fine the way it is.
I like it the way it is - they struck an elegant balance that it benefits your run and gun shooting, as well as your stealthy movement under cover (plus associated maneuvers). That said, LT to enter cover, and 'push out to aim out' took me some getting used to. I'm so ground in with my eleventy billion Mass Effect 2 playthroughs, that when the shit hits the fan (as opposed to when I'm all stealthed up, and doing stuff on my own terms), my hands just reflexively do 'ME2' stuff, so I keep dropping out of cover, lobbing grenades accidentally, and generally making a fool of myself :-)
