This Revolution WILL be Televised 0

This is not a review I ever expected to be writing. The original Deus Ex was a game far ahead of its time; it still holds up today if you're willing to overlook the graphics and some general awkwardness. I've heard it called the greatest game ever made and, while I wouldn't go that far, I could easily put it in the top three. Which is why its sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, was such a disappointment to me and many others. I could spend pages explaining why but I'll limit myself to saying I thoug...

What Alpha Protocol tried to be 0

Deus Ex Revolution is a prequel to one of the most celebrated first-person-shooters in gaming history. The original Deus Ex redefined the genre by adding deep RPG gameplay elements into a solid futuristic shooter. Over a decade after the original, Eidos Montreal decided to revive the game for modern gamers. Does Revolution deliver the goods?  To give a straight answer... yes it does... in a big way. The Augmented Edition of the game comes with some extras.  Deus Ex takes place in a ...

A great addon with a few missing links. 5

It has only been two months since the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Eidos Montreal has been hard at work cooking it's first DLC, The Missing Link. It doesn't reinvent the game, nor does it fix any of the bigger issues Human Revolution had but if you are looking for more Deux Ex, you have come to the right place. The story picks up as a stowaway Adam Jensen is discovered on-board a ship leaving Hengsha en route to an unknown location. Stripped of all his gear and with his augmentations ...

    Doing a classic justice 0

I had very little experience with the Deus Ex franchise coming into Human Revolution, and yet I was more than a little skeptical about its effort to revive a nearly decade old franchise. Fortunately my fears were unfounded, as Deus Ex: Human Revolution stays true to what makes the franchise unique while also applying the proper updates to successfully drag it into the modern era. The result is pretty rad.Let’s get this out of the way first- Human Revolution has a laundry list of unfortunate blem...

Despite Some Rough Edges, This Revolution Is Worth Taking Part In 15

The original Deus Ex, released back in 2000, is considered by some to be one of the best RPG’s of the last generation. It offered a level of choice in how players accomplished their goals that was groundbreaking at the time, which allowed for a lot of flexibility in how it was played. The newly released prequel to the original game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, promises to maintain that level of choice while crafting it’s own identity and updating the gameplay for modern players. While some of its...

The future is brighter than it seems 0

Story:The story of Deus Ex: Human Revolution takes place in 2030s Detroit/Shanghai, and gives an image of a grim future run by private corporations that fight for market and world domination. You find yourself in the shoes of Adam Jensen, the chief of security at a prominent cybernetics company called Sarif Industries. At the beginning of the game, the labs at Sarif get attacked by unknown forces, leaving many scientists dead and Adam on the verge of death. It is then that he is given his implan...

Great? Certainly. But a revolution? Not quite. 0

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is unlike most games you may have played in the last few years. Part shooter, part RPG and decidedly stealth heavy, here is a game that sometimes struggles to find its identity while other times completely nails it. Fortunately the latter occurs far more often then the former. But before I go any further let me say that I have never completed the original Deus Ex nor have i played any similar titles with a blend of shooting and RPG in recent times unless one considers B...

Deus Ex Human Revolution Review 0

Having not played the original well loved Deus Ex, or it’s not so well loved sequel, I was unsure of what to expect from Deus Ex Human Revolution. I am familiar with the cyber punk genre thanks to the Ghost in the Shell series and tech noir classic Bladerunner, and the many trailers for DEHR gave me high hopes for this uneasy yet eagerly anticipated prequel. I am happy to say that those high hopes were not thwarted, Deus Ex Human Revolution is good, very good. One of the games strongest point is ...

    Viva La Human Revolution! 0

This game aside my knowledge of the Deus Ex universe is fairly minimal. At least once a year I tend to start up the first game, play through the Liberty Island opening and stop not long after that. I don't know why I stop there. I don't think the game is bad at all. But I do. I rented Invisible War once. Didn't have it long enough to make a lot of progress, but from what I'd played I didn't think it as bad as many others did. Even with fairly minimal experience with it, I'd take the origi...

Deus Surprise: One of the best stealth games I've played. 0

It's been a long time coming for "Deus Ex: Human Revolution".  I've been waiting for this game for what seems like ages, ever since it was first announced in 2009.   And while the Deus Ex series has been dormant since 2004's "Invisible War", the biggest surprise here is that this Deus Ex trumps the skeptics, and creates easily the best stealth action title I've played this side of Metal Gear Solid.   Deus Ex primary started out as a PC series, releasing in 2000.  It combined first person shooter...

    A Surprising Success 0

As an avid gamer during the 90s, I was more than excited upon the release of Eidos' epic game Deus Ex in 2000. Having lived through and loved the highs of Quake and Half Life, I was excited for the notion of a more cerebral FPS. I fully believe that the original Deus Ex delivered on all of its promises, and was an amazing showcase of what first person games should be like.Unfortunately, my excitement for its sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, was less than palpable after having played through it. Human Revolution is the much anticipated third installment to the award winning Deus Ex first person role playing series. Players take the role of Adam Jensen, an ex special weapons agent, as he is plunged into a grim world that is infested with organized crime and unsupervised human augmentation. Jensen himself becomes the recipient of such practices after a black ops team kills a team of scientists he was hired to protect; leaves him badly injured. He awakens to find himself augmented with the...

Patience is a Virtue in the Latest Deus Ex 3

Deus Ex is one of those rare games that can either be as deep or as shallow as you want. It all depends on how you decide to approach its subject matter and how invested you choose to become in its mature narrative. On the surface you're getting a FPS/stealth hybrid with a sprinkling of RPG elements thrown in for good measure. Even though guns are prevalent, combat is not always the optimal choice. You wouldn't play Metal Gear Solid as a straight-up shooter even though it has guns; the same is tr...

    Cyberpunk's Finest Game 0

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is more or less a "true" sequel to the original Deus Ex game created by Eidos back in 2000, even though this one is actually a prequel. The original game, which I have not yet played as of this writing, is considered one of the best PC games of all time. It was then followed up by a sequel, Invisible War, which was almost universally considered a massive disappointment. This entry is a far better game than I anticipated; it succeeds on almost every front and manages to ...

Deus Ex is one of the most acclaimed gaming series around, and the time between each one is so sparse that expectations become increasingly high as we wait for the new entry to be released. Developer Eidos Montreal with the backing of Square Enix has not only crafted a respectable sequel, but has made one of the best games around. Deus Ex: HR is a prequel to the original Deus Ex game. They Could Have Done So Much More... 0

Variety is strangely the basis and necessity for Deus Ex: Human Revolution's format. What the game sets out to achieve is in fact achieved, but at the cost of creativity for every level following the first. It sticks to the concept set out initially, but doesn't try to alter those roots in enough interesting ways. What's left is a solid game. The problem? It could have been among the greatest of all-time.NarrativeDeus Ex: Human Revolution follows a setting that is a cross between worlds found in...

The Deus Ex franchise finally reappears and it is time to take on the mantle of Jansen, an ex-cop, now security for Sarif Industries. Great game 0

I'm about 20 hours into Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I've got to say that I'm very impressed.  It has an immersive story that keeps you engaged, and mostly interesting side quests that aren't simple "go get this item for me".    There are some drawbacks to the game as I've found that this is one of those rare titles that makes me feel a little nauseous to to the movement of the main character.  The bouncing up and down while he walks bothers me.  Don't get me wrong, it certainly looks realistic...

Gruff-voiced protagonist, Adam Jensen. The original Deus Ex, released for the PC in 2000, is commonly considered to be one of the most ground-breaking action-adventure games ever developed. I got introduced to the Deus Ex universe through promotional information shortly before the original game came out, but didn’t get a chance to play until Invisible War came out.  I actually ended up playing Invisible War before the original Deus Ex, so Human Revolution as a prequel continued by trend of going back in time.  I was hoping to find my favorite parts from the first two entries in the series present in Human Revolution, and also wondered how they were going to use 10 years newer...

-Reviewers Note: This review is concerning the PC version of the game. I have no experience, nor do I plan to have any, with the console versions. The name Deus Ex conjures many titles and memories in the mind of gamers. One of those lofty titles is, "Best Game of All-Time". So when Deus Ex: Human Revolution was announced, it was hard for many people to feel that anything could be as good as its predecessor. A western RPG worth playing 0

I'd heard and read quite a bit about the original Deus Ex, but never actually played it, so I went into Deus Ex - Human Revolution with no real expectations, just a hope that it could live up to it's extremely cool announcement trailer. Thankfully, it did that and more. Human Revolution does what a lot of RPGs set out to do, but few actually accomplish, and that's have a legitimately meaningful story. I'd like to preface this review with a confession:I have not played the original Deus Ex.I've certainly been meaning to since I received a copy f the game not too long ago, but life has a bad habit of getting in the way of things, especially video games. I pity Invisible War. The original Deus Ex was elevated, fairly, to such heights that future attempts would inevitably fall short. So I, like many, took the disappointment and bowed out of the franchise. But how is it that this game resurrects anything? It's just more expensive mediocrity. It isn't even a triumph of style or technology, like LA Noire, far and away the most overrated overpriced bore of this year. Deus Ex continues the deeply fucking disconcerting trend of developers slapping toget...

    THE BEST GAME 0

I started playing this bad boy last night - I never played the original Deus Ex, it was released a year or so before I had a good enough computer for it and also it was kind of a sleeper hit, it didn't get a lot of press until later on, in part due to the depth and complexity of the RPG mechanics. When I got around to it a couple of years ago the graphics were so dated and the mechanics so obtuse I had no idea what I was doing, so I dicked around with it briefly then let it fall by the wayside.S...

Playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, we can't help but wonder what augmentations we'd like to have if they we're on offer. Adam Jensen's retractable arm blades would be high on the list (handy for chopping onions), along with his ballistic Typhoon ability (good for erm, mowing the lawn?) and then we have to stop to consider for a moment, the ethics of such a thing. A prequel to the first Deus Ex, Human Revolution takes place in 2027, a year not that far removed from where we are now and thus it's...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Augments A-plenty, Uses Mandatory 0

Dues Ex, a game published in 2000, was a game that earned itself a status as a cult sci-fi game of epic proportions. Its sequel, Invisible War, earned its share of hatred and beat downs. So, of course, we ended up getting a prequel, and boy oh boy…this idea hasn’t aged well. Don’t get me wrong, despite the excellent setting and cyberpunk ideas Deus Ex is routed in mediocrity from the get-go. You play as Adam Jensen, disgraced former SWAT cop and head of security at Serif Industries, a company ...

The original Deus Ex is still to this very day considered to be one of the finest action/rpg's of all time and with good reason -- it successfully told a poignant, well-realized story, merged stealth and combat mechanics and showered the player with a ton of choices, which added a ton of depth and variety to the proceedings. This game has it all. stealth, action, RPG, adventure, a decent story, beautiful graphics, and great atmosphere.  To me, this is the first game of the year contender of 2011 and its set the bar very high. At one point in the game after playing for a few hours, I sort of came to a bit of a wall. With the upgrades I had chosen and the abilities I was granted, I felt a bit stuck and I decided to play the first few hours again. Hey, check it, transhumanism! I think Deus Ex: Human Revolution is trying to be an ominous prophecy of the dangerous melding of flesh and machine. The thing is that I don’t know if that’s so much a future thing than a present thing. We’re already being augmented with laser eye surgery, replacement limbs, Taylor Lautner’s hair and other things that cannot be considered natural in any way, shape or form. Deus Ex Human Revolution Review: Thank Deus for me 0

Deus Ex Human Revolution is a prequel to the original Deus Ex from 2000. The world presented in this game is extremely attractive and reminiscent of a near future with a heavy cyberpunk and blade runner like aesthetic to its visuals. The story of the game revolves around the increasing spread of augmenting humans by implanting them with robotic upgrades. There are themes brought into this including philosophy, morality and regulation as elements of society are opposed to the increasing numbers o...

    Fun yet ultimately flawed 0

There's not much left to be said about Human Revolution that you may not have already gleaned from pre release hype.  With that said, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is largely worth much of the praise heaped up on it.  It's beautiful, if a bit (okay almost totally) brown, the AI doesn't seem to have evolved much over similar games of yester-generation.  The augmentations really allow you to chisel out your very own character, and the morality system isn't as arbitrary as other games.  My biggest issu...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to the critically acclaimed original Deus Ex and the first game in the series since 2003's Invisible War. Set in the near future, Human Revolution takes place in a world where human augmentation is beginning to become very popular and create some controversy. Deus ex: Human Revolution is a fantastic game. Part stealth, action and FPS with corporate espionage and a wonderful and convincing world which draws you in and is as much believable as it is forseeable.
