    Overview

Devil Kings is the western version of the original Sengoku Basara, a Capcom action game for the PS2 that was released in 2005. Though the game is inspired by and loosely based on Japanese history of the Warring States period, the western release changed the names of the game's historical figures and removed the historical context from the storyline. This localization practice continued until the release of the third game, the first to be released in the west under the Sengoku Basara name as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.

    Gameplay

The gameplay of Devil Kings is similar in nature to that of Koei's Musou franchise. Each stage sets the player as an officer in a battle between warring armies. Stages are won by cutting through hordes of low-ranking soldiers and challenging rival officers to complete objectives.

    Characters

For the Devil Kings localization, the characters had their names changed. Character models, cutscenes, missions and dialogue were largely left unchanged, save for the removal of historical references from the story. The below lists provide the characters' original names, followed by their localized names.
