The fourth game in the popular Capcom action franchise, Devil May Cry. Take on the role of new playable character Nero, as he uses his swanky demon arm to beat the hell out of a demon invasion in the castle town of Fortuna.

    Overall a good game...

First thing first, Nero is a badass and that’s all there is too it. Any thoughts of long time fans disliking him shall be forgotten immediately within the first few sequences of the game. Nero brings that entire crazy stylish combo driven combat to the table that Dante did and brought it to a whole new level. The main reason for this evolution is that Nero has this wonderful little tool call the Devil Bringer. It essentially is a demon arm that kicks ass to the fullest extent. While at the beginning it may appear that this thing is more of a gimmick than anything it can really deliver some of the most exciting combos in the history of the series. Some examples of this is that this arm extends to bring your foes closer so the travel time between delivering your crushing sword kills has been greatly diminished. Another great advantage this brings is that on larger foes and bosses this serves as a critical part of maneuvering around your foes as it will grab onto the armor or shield of the enemy and send your flying above or behind your adversary to deliver even more punishing combos. See ounce you’ve finally mastered the ways of Nero the developers at Capcom throw you an 85 mph curveball right at you; the playable character becomes Dante for the second half of the game. While it’s great to see this gaming icon back in the action his combos and moves seem a little old-fashion compared to that of Nero’s. But to compensate for this he can get a death dealing arsenal that is beyond entertaining. First you alternate his weapons through the triggers, and you change his fighting styles through the d-pad. You downfall to this is that you only use Dante for 7 of the 20 missions so you never really get to appreciate his skills as much as Nero’s. While the fighting formula in the series still remains fresh that doesn’t mean everything about Devil Mar Cry 4 is fresh. This biggest design problem can be summed up in one word “BACKTRACKING.” For the first 11 missions you as Nero fight your way to the and remain entertaining throughout. But once you take control of Dante you just go backwards an retrace yourself back to the beginning, Hell you even play the same bosses which comes across as the developers being lazy and I would call the only major disappointment in the game. Overall Devil May Cry 4 sticks well with the established formula of its predecessors but mix it up enough to keep it from feeling stale. With some of the best cut scenes and boss battles in the business it really shines as a great game. But there are some problems that hide the shine of the game between the backtracking the decrease in difficulty from previous entries, but overall it delivers polished thrills and devastating combos the resurrect this series and brings it rushing back in to the next generation consoles

Captivating the very essence of boredom and excitement. 0

Capcom has finally dished out a helping of its smart-ass demon hunters to next generation platforms, this time following a fresh face with his own dark secrets. When you begin the game, you'll be treated to one of the most fantastically captivating cinematics you've ever seen, depicting Kyrie (new hero Nero's love interest in the game) singing a gripping ballad at the head of a church, while a tardy Nero races through an alleyway, slaying as many demons as possible on the way. The excellence on ...

      Rather dull 0

After playing the rest of the series on the PS2 I was kind of curious to see how this game was on the next gen systems. Since other reviews have put a great lengths their views summarizing the gameplay I'll not go into great detail. It seems like for me that for #4 the people at capcom, got the artists from the previous DMC & maybe Resident Evil4, brought back the designers from the first one with maybe one writer from somewhere else & got really drunk for making this. Gameplay is repetit...
