Well it's official.
It became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot. With that in mind, we want to let everyone know that we've decided to remove the gold and real-money auction house system from Diablo III.

I guess it was sort of inevitable after the way the fans reacted so negatively when the RMAH launched and so positively with the launch of PS3 version. I for one played D3 on and off pretty much up until a few months ago. It's a game I loved despite its obvious flaws. The thing I always held out hope for has now finally been made a reality and I can't be any more excited for Loot 2.0 to be implemented and for RoS to be released.
Also incidentally I guess this somewhat dates RoS seeing as the RMAH closure probably coincides with their release timeline.
