Some new screenshots of Diablo III appeared along with the latest Blizzcast. They're notable for being the first shots to actually include some of the interface elements from the upcoming game. While the inventory and character doll look simple enough, the skill tree borrows heavily from World of Warcraft (which is proper, since it in turn borrowed from D2). I also can't help but notice that the menus take up a lot of space with both windows popped and that the inventory loot bags look like they are split between weapons, potions and I'll assume treasure. Blizzard is notorious for tweaking their games heavily before release so I'd take these as prototypes, but it's still cool to see that progress is being made on the game and I can look forward to losing another couple years of my life to a Blizzard game relatively soon.

Yeah totally, way too fruity colorful for my grey and dungy tastes. =P
Interface looks simple enough. cool!
Hey, I'm having Heroes of Might and Magic flashbacks!
@CoolDrMoney (et al): Man, you beat me to the punch with that joke. Nice work!
This looks like a bad thing for me at least... I played a lot of WoW - probably too much - but eventually kicked the stuff.
I dip into other MMO's here and there and they just made/make me go back to WoW, they get discarded pretty quickly. I can understand carrying over the lessons Blizzard have learned from previous games, but if this game is tooled like WoW and looks a little bit like it too, I might just have to pass... Having played PC games for two decades (and even re-installed D2 when this was announced) it'll be hard to pass over this game, but the more I see of it, the more I see the hidden danger of WoW relapse on the horizon...
Well, it looks like the Diablo II interface, except nicer. Sounds good to me. And while there's not much room with everything up, there was none at all with everything up in D2, so Blizz is at least taking advantage of the increased screen real estate from 800x600.
So now what are the fanboys going to complain about? The fact that you have tabs to keep your shit organized makes it too easy or something?
I think I read on Kotaku that the bags are based on the size of items they hold. So it's not really potions treasure etc. It's more like Big items, Med, Small. And that it's all how many slots do I have on this bag compared to this one *in order to carry more stuff* instead of playing tetris a la D2. But whatever. I would play this game anyway.
I would like the mods to close this thread there is already a thread about where these pics came from right here Diablo 3 forums
(like they could even do that... lol)
=P
"God that looks good. Smooth and elegant. To anyone who complains that it looks to much like WoW, it is actually very reminiscent of Diablo II in my opinion. After all, Diablo II came out before WoW."That's exactly what I was thinking, it looks like improved version of Diablo 2.
Everyone who has posted a comment about how people are 'idiots' because they complain about the color need to re-read. The people who said anything of the sort said it in a very obviously sarcastic manner. Nobody here is complaining, so stop calling those imaginary people idiots. Thank you.
And for those of you who havent listened to the blizzcast and noticed the orb where mana used to be for the Barbarian you will be seeing the new Fury system. It is similar to the Rage system used for warriors in wow (a much better system than tacking on mana for a fighting class imo). The background fills up and each time it does so one of the three orbs lights up for better visualization of how much fury you have. As a Barbarian guy I am psyched to have the fury system in place.
not, your all idiots"
*you're
Idiot.
