Love Act III to bits. Has a great driven gameplay narrative. Breathtaking setpieces. Nonstop action. Hordes of Enemies. Mass Slaughter. And the most creepy rendition of hell in a long time. Feelin' the pain of them tortured gimpsuit giants. Dang that's nasty!

Hmm i dont know which one was my favorite. But i really liked the level where you had to click on stuff to kill things. im going to vote for that one.

Act II. The bigger emphasis on larger areas is perfect for kiting as my DH. Fucking hate those jumping monkeys though.

Act II is great (aside from the terrible last quest).

I love Act 2, the setting, the vastness of it, the changing environments, the story. Act 3 comes in close but felt really small compared to Act 2, like watching a season of a tv show after they've had major budget cuts.

Probably the first one. It's the one I liked the look of the most out of them.

Act II. Most interesting environments with a nice consistent variety. Plus, that was the narrative highlight of the game... a low highlight for sure, but a highlight nonetheless.

Without going into spoilers: the closer I got to red in Act III, the more annoyed and tired of playing I got. I was glad to see that Act IV wasn't just Hell. Otherwise, I'd probably kill someone for the repetitive environments. Figure I should qualify myself as a Hell-hater in nearly every game ever--Dante's Inferno was a slog, to say the least.

Act III. I had a lot of fun with it. I like the environments in Act II a little better, but the masses of enemies in Act III wins me over. Act IV would be more of a contender if it didn't feel short and rushed. The idea behind Act IV is cool, but they failed at executing it to its full potential imo. Act I is too much of a tutorial, but that's what its there for I suppose.

When I saw the Act II boss I had high hopes for the eventual fight with Diablo... yeah not so much. It was the coolest boss fight, though the start of Act III was pretty neat, though it was the final full fledged act. Honestly I was a little let down overall that they didn't have 2 more acts where they had a similar interesting way to go through the missions like in Act 3.

Act 3, because that's where you get hordes of enemies filling your entire screen.

you know i couldnt decide so i read some comments and yours brought back some great memories of that act, another reason its my favorite is the diversity in the environments.

I think the weakest Act comparatively is Act 2, while it has some of the best character moments in the game it feels too collect quest heavy.

Edit: Act 2 does have the best boss fight though.

@buft: Yeah Act II boss is the best in the game, He is also my least favorite. Right now he can one shot me with all of his attacks and when I die which I have several times in the past two days I have to fight through his first two stages only to be killed by him when I am clearly not in the green ring of death.

Nothing tops the boss in Act II, so that Act is easily the best one for me. Everything else was visually boring in comparison, including the final boss that was tame in comparison to the Act II boss fight.

Act III? man I really don't like Act III, it's the antithesis of what I like about dungeon crawlers, It's always on. I can appreciate it was all out war and complete chaos, but that's not my thing.

It's a toss up between Act I and II. Even though Act II has more events and side dungeons Act I takes it over nostalgia. I also like Act 1's quest elements. Perhaps if Act II had something that resembled Lut Gholein music even if it's nowhere Lut Gholein then Act II would take it. I love Lut Gholein.

yeh there is definitely an extra yard or more on those than the animation suggests

Probably Act III, mostly due to it being Act IV and Act V of Diablo 2 combined.

I agree and that is why I think Devil May Cry 3 has the best hell in all of gaming.

Edit: Forgot the 3. Which is kinda important as the hell in 1 sucks.

@Seppli: Act III, only because you literally were fighting an army constantly. It just felt badass taking down gigantic tunnel worms, legions of demons, and the pacing just picked up enough to make it chaotically fun.

Also, does anyone wish that D3 had a swamp Act like in D2?

Prefer the first 2 acts to the latter 2. For some reason I like hanging out in the desert. Even though those desert wasps are bastards.

Hard choice to make. I think I had the most fun in Act 4 due to how crazy the games enemy numbers get but story wise I'd have to go with Act 2 and specifically in regards to Kulle. I mean they had to dismember the dood cause he went crazy after figuring out how to store powerful demons in a crystal and he's voiced by good old Steve Blum doing his Starcream voice. So great. You also meet the jeweler there and he's hilarious and the enchantress who makes me feel funny in the pants.

Act 3. The second half isn't too hot but the first is so much fun and actually feels like you're in a war. Act 1 is a real close second as it is consistently fun but no real stand out moments.

@buft: Honestly I think some of it has to do with the lag. Often I see my hit points pop out of my head before the animation for the hit happens while fighting Belial.

Yep.

But I kind of liked four, too, just based on the setting (although it gave me a huge Darksiders vibe for some reason).

Act Ii. The setting was pretty interesting and man... that boss was awesome. The last two bosses felt underwhelming by comparison. Probably the only encounter in normal I had to actually tweak my build to suit the fight.

I see where you're coming from, but keep in mind D2 only had more because of an expansion, so never fear more is on the way!

A4 is the easiest, and you can plow through it in like 30 minute without even trying, so that's nice. A3 is a lot of fun with a ton of really dense combat situations, but Heralds of Pestilence are dangerous. Lost my first character to a combination of lag and NM champion Heralds of Pestilence.

A2 has wasps, so is instantly the worst act by far. It also seems to consistently take the longest.

Act 4 had the coolest setting and visuals, but it's incredibly short and even with the shortness still feels padded and pointless at times. Lot of throwing random characters and minibosses at you.

Act 2 has wasps and multiple boring desert and sewer crawls. The bosses were the best. But the wasps. Fuck the wasps.

Act 1 was basically a classic Diablo homage. Got me back into the game, but nothing special.

Act 3 is the winner. Giant sweeping battle against overwhelming armies of hell, taking the fight to them, with you feeling like the badass savior of the whole bunch. The second half was less fun, but that first part was perfect. Wish the game had tried more events that seemed bigger in scope instead of largely being fetch quests.

Act I. I just love the rendition of Leoric's Manor and the Tristram Cathedral.

Act 3. Looks the coolest, and I thought azmodan was the best villain.. at least until I actually fought him. Lamest fight ever, which was disappointing considering how awesome I thought Belial was, and how much of a badass he was in the vivdeo. Also, the end of it gets repetitive. Still think it's the best though.

Then Act 1. Had the best atmosphere and as lazy as it kind of was, it was fun reliving Diablo 1, which I thought was far superior to Diablo 2. Which brings us to..

Act 2. It's kind of dumb that I can forgive act 1 for being a copy of Diablo 1, when I can not forgive Act 2 for being a copy of Diablo 2, but it is what it is. Hated act 2 in diablo, hated the desert setting, and rolled my eyes when I saw Act 2 in this game was a desert setting as well. I hate the enemies, it feels way too long, it feels like lots of busy work (so much go to this level, okay, now go to that level again which is exactly the same, okay NOW you can progress - the aquaducts and the two times that necromancer dude sends you into his library thing for example). Hate this act to the point that when I get to it, that's when I take a week long break from Diablo.

I don't even count act 4. It's too short for me to care one way or another about it.

After leveling 3 characters to 60, thus playing through each act over 9 times, I have to go with act I. I always enjoy playing it and I love the look of the areas. Act III is neat but trekking through those dungeons in the castle are so dull and tedious. Same with those heart towers, just go on too long will little change in environment.
