Blizzard wants to remind the some 2 million gamers that participated in both the closed and open beta stress test weekend that you need to totally uninstall the beta including the Battle.net folders before you installing the full version of Diablo 3.

If you have installed the Diablo III beta at any point and intend to install Diablo III, please make sure that all Diablo III beta files are removed from your system prior to installing the full game.

This includes the Battle.net folder, which can be found in the following locations:

    [WINDOWS XP]

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Battle.net

    [WINDOWS VISTA/7]

    C:\ProgramData\Battle.net

    MAC

    /Users/Shared/Battle.net

Once this folder and all other beta files are removed, simply run the installer again.

Also if you have an ATI graphics card you might want to check this out.

We’ve recently become aware that playing Diablo III with the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers for ATI cards may cause some visual artifacts for specific hardware configurations. This issue affects users of ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards under Windows Vista and Windows 7. ATI Radeon HD 4600, 4700, 4800, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series products are unaffected, as is Windows XP.

ATI is aware and investigating. Until a solution can be provided we recommend those affected use the Catalyst 12.3 drivers.

    Update

This issue has now been resolved in the AMD Catalyst 12.4a hotfix driver. Users of the ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards are the only AMD customers who need to download this hotfix driver.

That seems odd having to delete the battle.net folder, would that be associated with Starcraft 2 if we have that installed?

I saw the Rorie tweet about the ATI thing. I'm glad it doesn't effect my card.

Why would the existence of these folders without any data in them at all be a problem? Sounds like anti-piracy boogaboo to me.

I ran the Beta uninstaller, but the Battle.net folder is still there. Am I really supposed to just outright delete that folder? I've already installed the full game client, so I wonder if I should uninstall that and then re-install.

Awww... I was somehow hoping the gigabytes of data I downloaded for the privilege of playing the beta for an hour would count towards the full client.

From what I understand, if you don't delete the battle.net folder you may experience installation issues for the full game.

The Battle.net folder will rebuild itself once you run the installer again. You can read about this in Blizzard technical support page, if you're having issues with the launcher/installer. This shouldn't affect other games like Starcraft 2 since they are located in a different folder. (\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\)

Just to be stubborn i will do none of those things. I will just uninstall the beta, and install Diablo 3 retail, just to keep things interesting.

Can anybody verify that client 1.0.1.9558 is the correct one? It somehow remembered my settings from the beta week, even though i thought i deleted everything.

Yeah, this is really stupid. Most games I beta'd (mostly mmo's) let you patch the beta to a release version. Anyone know why this is necessary?
