Witch Doctor or Babarian?

#1 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

I'm leaning toward Barbarian for preference. Of course there will be more classes later though.

#2 Posted by NDAProphet (19 posts) -

I'd like to try Barbarian in hopes that melee classes (and their respective builds) wont be so horribly gear-dependant.

#3 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

I'm not worried about that. Blizzard is one of the very few developers that I trust will sort everything out. They always do.

#4 Posted by DrHorrible (2 posts) -

out of those two, def going to have to go with the witch doctor for the cool looking skills. The barb looks like a hulk smash kind of thing.

#5 Posted by elliooo (293 posts) -

Both these classes look extremely cool. I loved the look of the barbarian in the gameplay footage, looked like a whole lot of fun to play just leaping and smashing your way through hordes of enemies. That said, the Wtich Doctor is a new class, that looks like it borrows from the Druid and Necromancer of Diablo 2, so I might have to choose Witch Doctor over Barbarian at the moment.

But most of all - can't wait to hear what other classes they announce. Really, really want to see the spellcaster with next-gen graphics.

I am leaning towards witch doctor because i have played melee soo many times now. I just think spellcasters are more fun to play at the moment... plus i don't think they are able to remove (lighten it enough) the barbarians gear-dependancy enough without completely overhauling the item/combat system.

fx you have a base damage determined by your strength and weapon type. The weapons will then give you various buffs. They will have to tune these to make sure the Barbarians require the same tier of gear to beat the various enemies as other classes. without making it seem like all classes are the same...

but anyway i still pick spellcaster

I didn't like the necro in Diablo II but the Witch Doctor looks interesting, but I like melee classes so I will probably play as a barb more often.

Witch Doctor looks pretty sweet.  Can't wait to see the other classes.

Out of the 2, i'd take the witch doctor but from the entire game it has to be the SORCERESS

#10 Posted by Termite (2395 posts) -

Witch doctor looks cool, but I like bashing things

#11 Posted by Hamz (6845 posts) -

Witch Doctor looks awesome to be honest so i'm inclined to go for him.

#12 Posted by stAtic (1638 posts) -

Which doctor. I like magic.

#13 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

Here's hoping for the Paladins return.

#14 Posted by Yoda (55 posts) -

probably witch doctor, but i will eventually have a high level of every class.

#15 Posted by LouisLeGros (24 posts) -

I loved the necromancer and I'm upset that he is gone. I can't count how many times I have made a summoner since 1.0.

I'd personally like a warrior more like the one in Diablo 1 then the Barbarian. However, between the two classes right now I'd probably go with the barb just because of how awesome everything looks when you smash em with brute force.

#16 Posted by MutenMiller (213 posts) -

Barbarian. I'm easy to please, and hitting stuff is all I need!

They haven't actually confirmed that the Necro is gone. It does look like there is no need for him anymore, but they never said that.

Barbarian
although the plague thing the witch doctor has looks cool

#19 Posted by MagusMaleficus (1025 posts) -

I'd probably go with the witch doctor before the barbarian, just to liven things up.

#20 Posted by Mourne (789 posts) -

Witch Doctor -- I'm always jumping at the new classes in these games.

#21 Posted by comedy (97 posts) -

I'll wait for the other classes for my decision to be made.

#22 Posted by nezze00 (144 posts) -

I think i'd go with the barbarian since I have one in diablo 2 and like it.

#23 Posted by Biggietroll (2 posts) -

Both look awesome however I'm more of a Barb player.

Well I don't think I should get my hopes up for the necro, I'll probably just be disappointed.

between the 2, Witch Doctor, if only because my friend will no doubt pick Barbarian.

For that very same reason I'd choose the Barb at this stage.

I really want to try out the Witch Doctor, mainly because it's a new class that wasn't in the original. That being said, the Barbarian might be the more refined and fun to play class. Regardless, I'm really itching to try out the Witch Doctor.

barbarian's old.
a druid/necro combo(ie witch doctor) sounds interesting

Necromancer. Oh wait, they're getting rid of that for a Witch Doctor...BOO!

#33 Posted by xenobli (17 posts) -

The barbarian at the beginning of the demo looked like Kratos from God of War to me. Heh.

#34 Posted by BoG (5178 posts) -

Witch Doctor at this point, but I'd like to see what else they have to offer.

The witch doctor looks more interesting to me, being a totally new class and all. Seems like a good fit for the Diablo universe as well. The barbarian is already in Diablo 2 and he looks pretty much the same now so I don't know.

#37 Posted by Demilich (2599 posts) -

Old thread is old.

I still think Barb, but it looks like at the upcoming Blizzcon we'll see some new classes.

#38 Posted by suneku (2997 posts) -

Out of these 2 I'd take the Witch Doctor... hopefully sorc is returning

#39 Posted by xxNBxx (960 posts) -

My Fav class from Diabo 2 was the Necro,  so at first glance the witch doctor seems to follow in somewhat the same path.  After reading what the dev team said about the witch doctor ( how its more of a direct damage class then a pet class)  I am not sure.

I would think the 3 trees for the Witch doctor to be fire/ pestilence / minnions  but who knows.
